Hartsfield - Need a fix? Always a fun topic!

I have known Phill for 20 years and I am sure he was just trying to determine what the knife would be used for so he could direct him in the right direction in his choice of model and style. For him a blade is a tool and should fit the application for which task you require it for. I can not see him brow beating anyone for that matter. When overhearing a conversation from a third party standpoint you sometimes do not hear the whole conversation.

You are right, brow beating is pretty harsh, but I thought the customer would not buy a knife from him because of the questions. Maybe he did buy one, I don't know. What if your task is just looking at the knife and admiring it?

Decipher that code, Bro.
Hartsfield's---you love them or you don't. It's an old story.

Win I love the man and his knives, great score. Paul can dress up anything so go for it. I would :D

Beautiful knife, Win. I think the sheaths are very nice as well. They sort of "match" the knife don't you think?;)

Thanks for the endorsement, JP. see you in Atlanta!

Paul

Thanks for all the comments and opinions. I'm by no means a big time collector of Phill's knives but I do like them. Right now I've got two and not sure if I'll add more.

I, too, don't see Phill giving anyone a hard time. He's about as soft spoken and nice as anyone.

I have to admit, I'm a bit perplexed by this one... it doesn't look to me like it would be a very functional knife for it's name's impression. Why would there be a crossada-style blade catcher for the front guard, and why would the handle be so small? I've heard Mr. Hartsfield's name a lot, but I've never encountered his stuff... is this an early piece for him?
I can't tell... are those brass hex nuts pressed into round holes and filled with epoxy for the handle bolts?
Are you using a textured reflector in your light box or something, or is the handle just scuffy from being twenty years old?

Yes on the hex bolts pressed (probably just tightened down on a hole that is countersunk, filled in with something, epoxy, jb weld, etc, left to dry and then ground off flush to the handle.

The blade catcher is there cos it's a fighting style knife !

The piece was made in 1985 according the Win.
