STeven, I see exactlty what you mean. I can't see her changing a thing. Her shapes comes from the 'uncarved block' sense of simplistic shapes. It's her adornments that she makes intricate.
I come from the "knife in totality" perspective, Coop.
If the basic knife is not interesting, all the adornment in the world will not make it appealing to me.
Fully understand how many savvy knife collectors go goofy for Harumi's work, I'm just not one of them....and because the blades look like sharpened butter knives, find them fundamentally unappealing.
Best Regards,
Steven Garsson
no need for the crude comparison, a simple "its not for me" will suffice.
Perhaps she would take a commission for a knife with the blade shapes and treatments that you are suggesting she explore here, Steven. I would be very interested to see the outcome, should anyone ever take an interest in such an endeavour.![]()
Personally, since I don't use butter, I can just sit back here and love her handles, STevie. And how dare the apologists.
Best regards,
Bob(by) Betzner
PM sent. I don't want to share my true feelings with the public.what I cannot stand are the apologists who say things like Coop did for the mismatch between the blades and the handles...it's absolutely mind boggling.
