Has a Sebenza ever opened in your pocket?

I just read from a member on another forum that his Sebenza opened in his pocket and cut him.

Should that be an issue to be aware or be wary of?

I have been edcing my large sebenza for about 6 months ( not nearly as long as other members ) and it has never opened.

Sounds suspiciously like a troll making trouble, or someone
messing around with thier knife improperly.. This happens on
those darn AO's all the time but Sebs are a little too stiff IMHO.

I've EDC'd my Lg Seb since '99 and this has never happened.

Short of a seriously misaligned right side washer or a ceramic
detent ball falling out (not even sure if either is possible)
I suppose it could happen, particularly to those of us who
back off the tension on the lock bar a little and the stud catching on your pants.

But hey, it's a work knife, a little common sense is needed packing one.
Always double-check your screws, don't pick your teeth with it, etc., etc..

Great, thats good to know, i was a little worried on that happening on me.

Thanks for the facts!

Once I was carrying my small sebenza in my back pocket next to my wallet, not clipped. I was fishing for my wallet and the blade on my sebenza popped open and I got a really nice cut. It does happen. I no longer carry it like that.

I would think front pocket carry (rt.hand/rt.pocket) would put the blade facing the seam of the pocket away from your hand. I'm sure anything can happen but the probability, would be very, very low. Now probability of a cut hand with knives that have a tip up configuration would be substantially higher...all things being equal.

I have had and have Sebenza's with VERY WEAK detents. Personally I have had several close calls. It's a shame CRK's can't get consistent detents on their knives. Larry

I've been carrying my small Seb for 8 months straight, and it has never so much as threatened to open in my pocket. If you carry it the way you're supposed to, which is to say- right side, with the blade pushed to the rear of your pocket, there's no way it's going to open on you accidentally.

I have never had any issues with the blade opening at all.

I even used to carry my small Sebenza loose in the pocket with the clip removed and still never had any issues with it opening.

I've never had my Sebenza open in my pocket. Also, I've never had an AO open in my pocket. And I have an AO in my pocket a lot more than I do any other type of knife. It would be interesting to see the posts of the AO's opening all the time.

Good advice!

I have carried my small Sebenza everyday for over three years. I have never had it accidently open in my pocket.

I've been carrying a Sebenza for about 5 years, and sometimes they've opened in my pocket.
Don't care for the clips so I carry them with clip-insert.

Bottomline= it can happen!
To some it won't,to some it will....,no trolling about that!

Anyway....,I love my CRK's!!!

Same as raoul, I carry loose in pocket with the clip insert. I keep my keys in the same pocket. A small, classic opened on my once, but luckily I wasn't cut. It wouldn't have happened at all if I was using the clip.
