Has a Sebenza ever opened in your pocket?

Okay I guess the bottom line is all folders can open if the unexpected happens, as stated above the sebenza has been along a very long time and is not a grail knife if this was a unique issue.

Since mine opened in my pocket the possibility of a knife opening has been something I consider when purchasing a knife. I have to say that the Spyderco Manix 2 (S90V Version) is now my perfect EDC. It has a very strong detent that will pull the tip of the knife closed from over 1/2" deployment out of the handle. And it has no thumbstuds or thumb disk to get snagged and pull the blade open.

If you are really concerned about accidental openings, which is something I am concerned about, then I would strongly recommend that you give the S90V Manix 2 a close look as a Sebenza alternative.

anyone here carry without a pocket clip? I was planning on doing so.

When I got my first one back in 94 it was clipless and I carried it in my coat pocket on the ranch. It did open on me once and it cut me good. After that I used the sheath and when the pocket clip models came out I got one and never have had a problem as long as I carry it in the front pocket so the blade is pinned against the pocket seam like someone else mentioned. Now I travel over the road alot and because cops have a thing for seeing how easy it is to flip open a guys knife whenever they might do a traffic stop, I keep my pvots adjusted a little on the tight side. I can carry my small Seb in my back pocket now without worrying about it easing open.

Has a Sebenza ever opened in your pocket?

I just read from a member on another forum that his Sebenza opened in his pocket and cut him.

Should that be an issue to be aware or be wary of?

Mine did, stabbed me in the testes. Sucked.

If you want a knife that won't open in your pocket, look at the Paul knives which lock closed.

My LH small opened when carried in my left rear pocket at the outside of the pocket. That positioned the blade towards the pocket. I did get a minor cut from that event. I had reached into my pocket for something else.

I moved it to my left front pocket. With the LH version this puts the blade to the outside of my pocket. I keep the knife snug against that outside pocket seam and haven't had an issue since.

It's not quite as handy in the LF but I got used to it. The knife does have a might weak detent on it as well. Does CRK tighten those up as a warranty repair?

Regards,
HB
