Has Allan Blade finished up all his backorders?

Somebody needs to post a heads up over there, and let Jim know what he's been doing to the members over here.

If he still owes people knives or money, he needs to honor those commitments before selling new stuff.

I'm keeping an eye on Allan over at KnifeForums. I posted this at the above-linked thread, but no response from him yet:

"Allan...I take it that you have taken care of the problems that you had in the past with production and delivery? You really do make some nice-looking knives!"

Everyone knows about the problems i had almost 3 yrs ago,

For real allan, are you kidding me????
Its been going on a bit longer then 3 years dont ya think? Its happened more then once as well.

I'll post if I have all of my prepaid orders in.
Also will post when I get my first package from the maker.

BTW I'm a dumbass and have got the serious lesson, no matter which maker you are dealing with, don't do the stupid full prepay thing like me.

Joe

A heads up for everyone.

Allan Blade has been in contact with me since my post here, and while I'm not entirely happy with the beating I took from him via email, he does have some valid points.

Allan still has work to do to catch up on some knives he owes. My suggestion to any of you that are owed either knives, or money from Allan, is to contact him directly at either of the following email addresses:

BIadesEdge@aol.com

BladeCutlery2003@aol.com

Any questions regarding this may be directed to me via email.

Something that I do have to state in Allan's favor is that recently I have not heard of him having the problems and doing the things he was doing in the past. All I have read from people that have ordered knives from Allan in the last while have been positive. It does appear that he is doing everything he can to try to make up for the things that happened in the past. He has emphatically stated to me that he is going to get the situation with Joe straightened out right away.

I have been the person that has probably been the biggest thorn in Allan's side. For the last couple of years I have dogged him and kept on him about doing the right thing as far as Joe is concerned. I have also continued to go after him about what he owes Rob. Hopefully someday things can be straightened out between Allan and Rob as well.

It sure would be nice to one day be able to say, "Sure Allan had a lot of problems in the past, but he has come through with everything he owed people and he has really turned things around". It does look like that is what he is trying to do.

Got this one today, came as promised and is a very handy size blade that I can see using everyday for about any chore...

Allan was straight up on this transaction, even to the point of changing his batch of knives to make mine without the notch before the edge starts, which I very much appreciate as that is one of the biggest pet peeves I have with knives...

Blade is quite sharp, ground very nicely tapering to the point, the handle is slightly oval with a flare near the guard area, comfy blade...

Thanks Allan,

Ignoring his past does not make it go away. Supporting him while knowing full well that he has not made restitution (or even attempts at restitution) is not something I'd advertise. He owes several forum members knives or money or both - and he's shown his spots more than once.

I certainly have not ignored his past, but I am hoping that he will make up for that part of his life and that we will never again hear the horror stories that have been a part of dealing with him in the past.

You are correct though, Spark. Those that forget the past are doomed to repeat it.

Spark, Rob, I’m not out to fight his fight nor pay his debt, only showing that with my transaction, as well as other’s on different threads, he is sticking to it.

To those that feel he still owes, I’d suggest to write it down, clearly defining the debt, and emailing to the emails that Code 3 has listed above, not a ranting email, just a clear cut email, to the point with what you feel is owed.

And for a fact, he has contacted and is in the process of making restitution for his past mistake, to at least one person I know of personally.

These threads do send a clear warning, don’t send a deposit to Allan Blade, even with things going well now, a lapse can always occur, no matter how sincere a person. So I’d treat each order with the knowledge that funds don’t leave until the knife is ready. Just the way it has to be in this case, as trust is a very hard thing to get back once it’s gone.

Well it sort of does read like I’m defending him…but I’m just replying to Spark’s comment regarding my post above. I’d do the same for about anyone here…with very very few exceptions!

Um ... Gary ... some people might find your post a little surprising. Those who "feel" they are still owed money might find it very surprising. We're not just talking about feelings here, we're talking about money, and not pocket change either. Joe Chen and Rob Simonich are out large amounts, and when you add all the others together that comes to quite a bit too. They have been owed that money for a long time, and have gotten nothing but insults for their patience. Should they each send yet one more email? A non-ranting email? How many times do you think a debt needs to be "clearly defined?" For how many more years do you think they should send non-ranting emails and how many times should they be insulted for their patience before they would be entitled to rant a little?

I don't know, maybe you're just unfamiliar with the situation.... You might search the past couple of years of this forum and see how Allen Blade has consistently responded to the kind of approach you're suggesting. That might help you understand better.

Well,I think in order to make restitution he will need also to make a living.Obviously,to pay what he owes he will have to have an income to live on.I'm not sticking up for him, just realizing reality. He can't afford to make knives he owes without selling some new ones to create an income to live on and buy the supplies.I would say as long as he sets a reasonable time frame as now he is trying to get back on his feet,I think thats about all one can expect to happen at this point. The wait is too long for the people that is owed already, but if he is slowly making these restitutions then it looks as if he will eventually square up all his debts. This may be small comfort to some, but when one goes bankrupt they have no legal obligation to past debts. It is in his best interest though to make restitution to those previous customers to get back a good name for himself if he would like to continue in knifemaking.Like I said though to all whom he owes,he needs to make contact and set a time frame in place, and continue paying those back he owes.Good Luck to all that are owed.To Allan, your products are top notch, don't let these guy's down any longer.Good luck to you and your trying to get back on your feet.

Yeah, that's great and all, except Allan has been given more than one chance. He's been given chances over and over again. He sent me an email saying that he'd have everyone he owes knives to settled up in under 2 months. "SPARK , the facts are in 2 months or less i will have everyone caught up i owe knives to.. The others who say i owe them anything but can`t produce proof to that fact can kiss my rearend because there liars."

"Oh but if you give him one more chance he won't rip anyone off again!"

Sorry, Allan's burned up all the credit he's gotten here several times over.

He can make a living with two jobs and pay off his debts like anyone else would - with hard work and honesty. In the meantime, instead of ducking and hiding, he should be devoting every minute to honoring his obligations.

I honestly believe if he was that bad of a guy he would not even attempt to correct the past mistakes. It does appear to me that he is trying to correct the past and put together a better future so nothing like this ever happens again. He has a great talent,I'm sure this is something he does not want to see go to waste.I really think it would be more beneficial to show some encouragement than to bash him.We have many long threads bashing this guy,any further bashing threads would really be counter productive at this point.Again I really mean it when I say for those that are owed I wish you a speedy recovery as possible of the stuff you ordered and Good Luck to Allan Blade getting back on track with your knifemaking.

The Feel part was directed to some of the companies that he had cited as they felt he still owed them, not Rob or Mr. Chen, those two are surely due and long past as shown, no contest there...

I'm done.
