Has anybody heard of Kizlyar Supreme ?

I received one of their gent's folders with the white bone handle and black blade for Christmas. It is a nice knife and the fit and finish is pretty good and had a reasonable price. I have been carrying it since I received it. Haven't cut enough stuff to see how the edge will hold up but I like sharpening my knives anyway.

Okay so, so far in this thread we have claims going BOTH ways as to where these knives are made.

BOTTOM LINE: Are these blades made in Russia? Or aren't they? (and no, I don't read Russian...or Mandarin)

TBH neither answer would surprise me.

I think there's a lot of confusion between Kizlyar Supreme, Kizlyar and Kizer. They are three different companies. Kizer and Kizlyar are Chinese manufactured, Kizlyar Supreme is from St Petersburg. I have a Kizlyar Supreme Biker Z and it's a pretty nice knife. I'm not sure I'd buy more because due to import issues they retail in the U.S. For a little too much $. A Biker at $100 should really be a $60-70 knife.

I don’t think this is true. What is your source? I have a Kizlyar Sterkh-1 made in [French] Z60. Please point me to the evidence that it was manufactured in China.

The certificates for classifying both knives as weapons ( It's Russia's law) posted on page 1 from the above link, for Santi and Nikki, under the "Kizliar Supreme" brand, clearly said that the knives are in fact manufactured in Kizliar City and not in St Petersburg.
However, this does not mean that the blades and scales are not manufactured in China and the end product is assembled in Russia.
I believe this is the case with all Kizliar's lines, "Kizliar Supreme" or just "Kizliar"

2013 "Kizlyar Supreme" makes knives in our own factory in the town of Kizlyar. The company's head office is located in Saint-Petersburg. "Kizlyar" and the "Kizlyar Supreme" different companies. But there is speculation that the owner of these companies the same.

I think it's true and fairly well supported...except that I got it backwards! I meant to say Kizlyar is Russian in origin and Kizlyar Supreme is China, at least for their folders. I didn't realize I'd stated it backwards until I re-read my post when you quoted me :). There's been a lot of supporting evidence presented in various threads over the years to show Kizlyar Supreme folders sold on Chinese sites under different names.

I was worried for a second! :)

Kizlyar and Kizlyar Supreme two different things , ( at least it used to be)
I have few Supreme laying around , blades marked made in Russia , but it really looks like Chinese work ,
maybe parts made in China , personally I would skip any Supreme knife .

"Kizlyar Supreme" - more export-oriented. To me there's little that like. Love "Kizlyar", which has passed through two Chechen wars.

I just bought the Kizlyar Supreme Enzo, D2, Titanium nitride coated blade with the best kydex sheath I have ever seen for considerably under $100 dollars. Fit, and finish is fabulous, it came hair popping sharp, Perfect in every way, blade examined under 100 power scope, perfect, an excellent D2 alloy by visual inspection very fine grained for D2, thinking it might be the sprayed version. I bought the Supreme Pioneer in Sleipner alloy with walnut scales and an very nice leather sheath last year. It is a fine grained steel also. The claim is this is an improved D2 steel, more chip resistant in tooling applications. Have not used either knife. Not sure how to post photos. I get smoking deals on both off E-bay by keeping specific searches active and waiting until the right deal comes along on something of interest or watching auctions. I am watching the Supreme Dream folder now.

Link removed, read the site rules.

I bought a 3.5” flipper about two years ago and it’s still in my collection. I don’t recall the model number and the knives are at my cabin so I can’t check.

It’s a good little knife - comparable to a Ruike or a Kizer. It is a very good looking knife and the action, fit, and finish are well executed.

I know nothing about the Russian controversy but bought the knife after reading (Blade or Knife Illustrated) that it was made in Russia. No idea if that’s true.

I do like the knife and it survived the cut when I pared the low/mid priced knives out of my collection.

Good luck.

This appears to be a Russian company producing mostly full tang fixed blades in D2, and AUS-8. They even have a few folders. I've seen a handful of post in their regard, but still they live in obscurity. I really like the looks of the Santi model fixed blade, in D2, it also sports a micarta handle which is a nice touch. The materials seem to be well thought out (some dislike AUS-8), but D2 is held in pretty high regard here. Micarta, and G10 scales, so what is not to like about Kizlyar Supreme. Note this is a different company than than the other Kizlyar knife company that's better known on these forums.
Is this one of their knives?
