Has anyone bought a Sebenza, not liked it, and sold it?

You should try it.
You can find one every few days here in the for sale are for about 330$ very good condition.
They will outperform Hinderer and Strider any day of the week doing what a knife is meant to do. Cutting, piercing and slicing.
The lock up is stellar and now you can try a 25 which gives you that extra beef if you want it.

Ive only played with two CR's in store and never owned one, so my opinions are tragically flawed.

I just didn't see the appeal. Maybe it's one of those things where I need to own one and use it to appreciate it, or to make myself feel better about the price tag, or whatever - I just didn't "get" it. The Sebenzas sure look neat, I love the lines and materials, but in hand it just didn't click. :(

If I were going to spend that kind of $$, I would look towards Hinderers or Striders.

Then again, Im one of the very few people who don't care for the paramilitary 2 so maybe I'm the crazy one!

The only CR model that looks good to me is the Insingo model. That is one beautiful looking blade. I wouldn't mind picking one up and feeling it, but right now I'm happy with my PM2, plus I wouldn't spend that kind of money on a knife.

Maybe some day, bud. Truth be told, I'm always drawn to the basic 21 Insigno. That blade shape is just sexy. :D

I also used to say I won't spend that kind of money on a knife. Then I looked in my drawer, realized how much money I have in knives, sold a few and bought a Sebenza. I ended up selling it after about 6mo but now I'm really considering a Starbenza. Love the design, plus the silver hardware looks great IMO.

I had a Large BG-42. Best lock up of any knife I've owned. But like others mentioned, it just didn't do it for me and I sold it. Still an awesome knife the I regard highly. As you can see, I used it well.

I did the same as you, but I ended up buying 2. I have a coworker/friend who literally argued with me for a couple days about why would you ever spend that much on a knife, and how could you carry something that expensive clipped to your pocket. Needless to say, he ordered a Sebenza 25 days after I got my first Seb, and he ordered a large Starbenza yesterday.

That blade shape looks the best on the CR imo. I'm just not a thumb stud person but I can admire the beauty of the knife from afar. :D

I bought 3 smalls before I realized I didn't like them as much as my William Henrys, so I traded 2 of them for William henrys and kept one just to have one in my collection. I did also buy a bunch of Mnandi's which I much prefer over the Sebs and currently own 12 Ivory Mnandis. Still prefer the quality of a William Henry. Can't bring my self to like the onesided look of the sebs................

I hear that, mine is the 21 standard simple mans Sebbie.
But any variation of that knife is amazing.
I also do not care for the 25's caged ceramic ball lock face and detent, finger grooves, thicker blade or the fact that does not break down like the 21.
I am not knocking it. Ive handled some and they are rock solid in every aspect .
I just like the old school 21 thing.

I bought a large 21 and love it. I carried it every day for over three years now I rotate it with my new Strider SnG. The Sebenza is a fantastic knife.

Just bought small Sebenza and returned it back due to low quality. Absolutely dull blade and sticky lock. I think that a quality control is not in palace as before. A lot of complains lately on the internet. Hope 25th will be better.

I resisted for three years before buying one, then saw the 25. They were very hard to get at the time. I checked everywhere and finally found and bought one. I was on a mission, stayed up literally all night and bought it first thing that morning.

Bought two more Sebenzas within the next two weeks, a lefty Large Micarta 21 and an Insingo right large a Micarta. Wanted to try them all.

Recently I took a bunch of knives to watch a motorcycle race with 10 riding buddies. I'm the only one into knives, but we all shoot together, too.

Brought a Benchmade 710 in M390, Lg Infidel, Spyderco Civilian, Matriarch2, PM2, waved Matriarch2, and the 25 for them to check out and get their opinions on.

The ones they were the most impressed with were the 25 and of course the Infidel. I didn't talk about how much they each cost until they had handled them all. What impressed them the most about the 25 was how it felt when it was closing. They said it just seemed ahead of the rest in quality.

But if the house were on fire it wouldn't be one of the CRKs I'd grab running out, it would be my CQC8.

So I guess I like them, but that says something about them. A knife is a very personal thing.

Years ago I had both a large and small regular Sebenzas. Great quality but the regulars proved tricky to open smoothly. I was also leary about using such an expensive knife so I sold both of them. Fast forward to 3 years ago and I picked up another small and I actually used the thing. The key for me was to reprofile the bevel and use the hell out it. Now I rarely carry anything else. I do have two larges and a first generation Zann that are going up for sale soon since they just don't click for me like the small does. Plus I need the money for another handgun :-)

I didn't buy one but I had one for a week on a pass-around and thought it was no big deal. To me it is just not worth the money. I'd rather have a $150 Spyderco or Benchmade all day long instead of a Chris Reeve Knife.

A side note: Chris Reeve's cockiness also turns me off big time.

I like Sebenzas, but they just leave me wanting. Just when I thought that I had found a keeper I ended up posting it up for sale a few mins ago. It would be my 5th Sebenza. I think I'll always have one passing through my hands. It is a very very very well engineered knife for the money: tolerances are just great and the little attention to details are just up there with mid-techs and customs. The pointy thumbstuds and the blocky handle just doesn't do it for me. I finally got over my dislike of S35VN as well too...

I fondled one at BHQ last week, prepared to pull out my wallet if I got too hetted up. Meh. Felt like I had a crescent wrench in my hand. No joy.
