Has anyone bought one of the $75 Surefire M2s off Ebay?

There are a bunch of Surefire M2s for $75 on Ebay. The seller says they are new and in the sealed box. Great price, but the seller is relatively new--only 5 feedback items all from the M2 auctions--and if it's too good to be true . . .

I bid on one but took my daughter hiking and someone outbid me by a buck ($76). Has anyone dealt with this guy? Is the deal legit? Or did the lights fall off a truck?

I don't need the light urgently. I was prepared to pay retail, so now I'm thinking I might wait for the M2 digital (with the lamp voltage regulator) to come out.

I bid on a few and was outbid and was unable to give another go at it as my net connectionwas down all weekend. The prices that the final sales went for were well under my dealer price, so if they are legit, the guy is either taking a bath on the loss, or perhaps there are other less-than-legal issues present. I'm a bit less trusting after a recent problem I had over at fleabay. Some of the CPF guys were bidding but I don't know if anyone won one of the auctions.

Another thought occurred: the other thought is that it's a distributor trying to sell direct to the public (although that's at-or-slightly-below distributor price as well). Quick way to build a reputation.

Best of luck if you do win- let us know.

When are the M2 digitals supposed to come out? They are in the new catalog. I was wondering if a dealer/distributor was blowing out the regular M2s to make room for the newer version with the voltage regulator.

Either way, I don't think I am going to bid again. As I said, I was ready to pay retail or close to it. I think constant light followed by 15 minutes of "emergency illumination" to find the spares would be worth the wait and extra dough . . .

Just a note to anyone interested seems like
he was asking like $20 S+H, So remember that when you bid.

I sent the seller a message asking about shipping. If/when I get a response I'll let you know what he says.

Tim--Any idea when the "Digital Series" M2D will be out and what it will cost (retail)?

I'm new to this board, but I saw this topic and had to contribute. I indeed did get crazy and bid on one of these M2's. I emailed him about the shipping and he said the $20 was a mistake and shipping would be based on the buyers location. I was still a little wary but for some odd reason i bid anyway and won. He charged about $8 shipping and about $2 more for insurance. I'm awaiting delivery and will keep you updated.

I won an auction from Charles last week and received the M2 today-factory sealed and perfect in every way!

I had the same question regarding the shipping, but as stated, he told me that it was a mistake that he was trying to correct. Anyway, I now have my second M2 at a great price.

Now a need to get a deal on a HA turbo head and a clickie tailcap for it! Does it ever end?

Daniel:confused:

I won one of the SureFire's last week. It arrived today as described, well packaged and very promptly shipped. Might have to bid on one of his M3's now. Also had an ARC LS show up today, a real sweet little torch.

I won one of the auctions last evening. I will let everyone know how it goes. I am looking forward to my light ;)

The new technology looks promising, but who knows when the current M2 will be superceded? I could have waited a couple more months for something in the 2002 catalog if it was actually going to be out in 2002, but I can't wait indefinitely.

The seler said shipping would be $8.50 so I placed a bid. I'll let you all know what happens.

The M2D will not be a production model.

The first digially regulated incandescent bulb model from SureFire will be the A2. This will also have three LEDs in the same bezel. A Fusion of digitally regulated bulb and LEDs.

Look forward to having digitally regulated Luxeon conversion Bezels for SureFires. The KLx Series will be released soon.

Another release soon from SureFire will be the G2Z Nitrolon CombatLight.

. . . and I understand there will be no M2D. I meant I did not want to wait for the Luxeons given what I have read about Surefire's releases--who knows when "soon" is. (Note: I am not complaining--it's better to get it right the first time). Hopefully I can get one of the digitally regulated Luxeon conversion Bezels for my M2 in the near future.

I edited my previous post to be clearer.

Hi

SureFire's "soon" is better then "I'm sorry, I know we said xx/yy/zz, but we're two months behind... Atleast."

The best way I've think is that I pre-order from Tim "The Prince" Flanagan, and the first I know of the G2Z release is that it turns up on my door step. Of course, Moderating the SureFire Discussion Board means I'll find out anyway, but do you understand my idea?
Better to be surprised by it's release then disappointed by it's delay.

The KL3 for the two & three cell standard Bodies (M2, D2 & D3 etc) will rock! Have you seen the proto-types? Cut-out cooling fins etc. It's got style, flare, it's a statement - SureFire make Digitally Regulated Luxeons. That's not a flashight - It's a SureFire.

I want.

Soon...

I've seen the pics of the prototypes at the PK Engineering site. I want, too. Thanks for the info :)

Glad I caught this thread in time. I'm on the fence regarding whether I want a SF, and if so, which one.

I'm looking for something powerful, focused, and quality. I was noodling with either the C2 Centurion, or the M2 Millenium, which ships with the 120 lumen bulb assembly. I like the idea of a shock-resistant bezel, since I always manage do drop flashlights, and anticipate this will happen on a construction job.

OK, so just when I was thinking that the C2/M2 was what I needed, I now read this, and I'm wondering if I should hold off. Will an investment in a current SureFire be upgradable later? What's the story with this Luxeon gizmo? What about the Arc LS?

Hope you can help!

The M2 body will accept the KL3 Luxeon Bezel.

Who has both the Arc LS and the SureFire KL1?

I didn't feel the need to waste my money on an LS. I think Arc's efforts are impressive, but that SureFire continue to raise the game.

I'm just go to try to help with that Arc-Ls question,
The Arc-LS is one of the few lights to use a new kind of
L.E.D. (If your new to that as well it's not a "bulb"
but it can replace one and is near impossible to burn out
or break). The new L.E.D. is called a Luxeon Star LED
made by Lumileds (short form most places is LS)
An LS is about as bright as 5-10 standard 5mm white LEDS.
My Arc-LS (I.E. Arc Flashlights with a Luxeon Star LED)
is brighter then a Mini-Mag or for a better idea,
If I point it up in a DARK room (20' X 20') the room
is lit enough to do just about anything.

and There is a ton of info on CPF:

A Surefire light with a LS in it would be cool!

I'm real fond of the M2, it's balls-to-the-wall with features. Yes, it's bigger/heavier than some of the other 2cell SureFire's but it's a mighty tough torch. Don't deny yourself the pleasure of a new flashlight!! Buy an M2 now and get the LED conversion later, have the best of both worlds! I got one of the ARC LS second's, it's very bright and has quite a throw for a single LED. I like it for the variety of feeding options. To be honest though about 90% of my lighting needs could be met by a 4LED 3AA flashlight.

With you guys helping out, I'm sure I can figure it out. Although it would help if there were some sort of direct comparison of the ArcLS (or other LED lights) to the various SureFires, so one could make an informed decision based upon light output and focus/angle of beam.

A few questions, and a clarification, please.

1-cell: 15 Lumens
2-cell: 65 Lumens (a 400% increase over 1-cell)
3-cell: 120 Lumens (a 180% increase over 2-cell)
Alright, so it seems that the 'biggest bang' for the volt is the 2 cell, which is the 'sweet spot' in terms of performance, yes? IOW, it seems there's a diminishing return as they add more batteries.

The difference between the C2 and M2 is that the M2 has an optical coating, and the high-intensity lamp? What is the tradeoff in size and weight?

Will there be any kind of hybrid lens for the M2 body, as they have for their rechargeable line, where you have an LED for low power, and the Xenon lamp for high power?

What's this business about some electronic circuitry in the upcoming SureFires? Worth waiting for? If I buy an M2 now, can I retrofit the new option... is the new gizmo backwardly compatible? Where can I get a look at the prototypes, and proposed specs on the new one?

TIA!
