Has anyone ever changed a pocket clip?

I've taken an interest in CRK recently and have been looking at the forums/google images at all sorts of customization work, some very minor/subtle changes all the way up to extreme mods but one thing I have never seen is a clip swap. Does anyone have any pictures of a Sebenza (or other CRK) with a non stock clip (or a modified factory clip)?

The sebenza clip is perfect in my opinion. The double detent is awesome. Why mess with it?

Why change parts on a new sports car? Why put different pick-ups in a new guitar? Because its fun to be different, to give your [whatever] a personal touch and for nothing more than personal preference.

I agree there's nothing wrong with the factory clip, it functions perfect, it may not be the most aesthetically pleasing pocket clip I've ever seen on a knife however I can't argue it just fits & works but to say it shouldn't be messed with cause nothing's "wrong" with it sort'a goes against our core values as knife-nuts.

If I bought a MIM start or an epiphone I might change the pickups. If I bought a sporty honda or even infinity I might chance the wheels. If I buy a Tom Anderson guitar I'm not going to change the pickups or if I bought a Porsche I wouldn't change the wheels. You are paying for that perfection. But to each his own....

I have seen the Spyderco wire clips put to good use as well as few after market pieces. Making clips for a Sebenza/Umnumzaan is a nightmare and I have tried a few but have really never had results I'm absolutely happy with.

This is one of the low rider clips I did a while back and probably the closest I have come to getting it right. :p

Chris should make a low rider clip as an accessory. Does make a CRK more functional IMHO, especially for those that want to carry it concealed.

The only thing I'd like to see done with clips is have the option when purchasing to have it anodized to match the thumb stud. Just as an optional add on.

The only reason this is on here is because it came like this from the last owner. I will soon be restoring it to original parts.

That's actually exactly the thing I was hoping to find a pic of. I wish it mounted different than it does, in my opinion the wire clip spyderco uses is the best possible pocket clip for any knife and would work equally as well on small flashlights (again with a different mounting setup).

Stand straight- the Sage 3 is without a doubt my favorite spyderco, in fact its my favorite <$200 production knife bar none, perfect F&F, glassy smooth action, zero blade play, awesome lock and looks good too boot. If only the new one would of been regular CF and not "Bill Cosby sweater" weave.

I sort of dislike clips and attempted to remove the clip, but doesn't look complete without it or any other clip in my opinion.

It is perfect for the knife.

I used a Spyderco Meerkat clip on my Seb for about a year while looking for other low rider options. Meerkat wire is shorter and a bit thicker than the sage and other spyderco wire clips. It stayed in place pretty well when tightened down and sat in the recess nicely. If you are looking for a quick out of the box solution, it works.

I do believe the factory clip is about the best production clip out there though.

Sounds awesome, got a pic?

Here's a spare dragonfly clip, I like the look but my OCD is gonna bother me how the attachment "legs" arnt parallel with each other or the knife. I'm thinking about getting one of the inserts and cutting the channels in it so it sits just perfect.

I have a lot to do around the house this weekend, I'm going to carry it and test it out to see how it works before I risk carrying it out where I might lose it if it doesn't hold.

Not my pics, but where I got the inspiration.

The meerkat clip is very solid with great retention (after a slight bend down). It did move a tiny bit side to side at the bottom every once in a while.

There are slight differences that makes the meerkat clip unique among the spyderco wire clips. I did try a sage wire and it didn't hold at all, looked like the dragonfly wire.

I really like this idea as an option. Maybe not full time, but when more discreet carry is needed. The Meerkat clip might be harder to find (it appears to be discontinued model)? However, that Meerkat clip is ideal because the wire curves around the screw, unlike other Spyderco wire clips I've seen. I wonder if a Spyderco Techno wire clip could also work? I just sold a Spyderco Techno a week ago to fund my first CRK (arriving Monday!). It has a short, deep carry wire clip that is a flat grey (not shiny) in color that matched the titanium stonewashed slabs of the Techno. I bet it would be a great color match for the CRK folders. http://www.bladehq.com/item--Spyderco-Techno-Folding-Pocket--10962 I may have to call Spyderco customer service and buy an extra Techno clip (or see if they still have Meerkat?) and try this out.

I didn't realize the meerkat's clip's feet were bent, I thought that guy did that, I'm sure I can bend this dfly clip to match... Tomorrow's project.
