Has anyone ever had this happen with 420HC?

Buck makes the best 420HC available it will chip sometimes when chopping or twisting a little. Buck customer service has always been great to me. I would be very surprised if they did not replace it for you free of charge.

Razor re read this post also!!!
Thanks Soleil!
I know they will take care of it :D I have had nothing but THE BEST customer service from them. A++++++++++++++
I'll be more careful next time though. ;)

Since wh4f went to Buck first and is only posting this as an example of a complaint, I totally understand, but I've got a better format.

Contact Buck first (or any other knifemaker if it isn't a Buck) and let them deal with it. Only if they ignore you or blame you, or otherwise refuse to honor their warranty should anyone come here to bitch and moan. Posting here AFTER Buck has resolved the issue by either fixing it or replacing the knife would be appropriate as then we can see the resolution.

A maker or manufacturer should always be given the opportunity to make it right. Even with good QC, a bad one occassionally slips through.

quit your cryin',it's a buck afterall

might i sujest this wonderfull thread for your reading pleasure my friend...

Buck wont ignore or blame you. They will and do make it right,
I only did this because of the way RAZORXXXXXX, posted his problem. And then proceeded to post it in several other threads. Once is enough.
We can be civil, respectful and yet get the point across. I have no problem of people posting a problem with a knife or service, but beating a dead horse and being rude are uncalled for... Just my .02 again :D

ras:

Joe himself said he wants to hear about issues; and not to look at them through rose colored glasses either.

Posting here AFTER the issue(s) is resolved benefits no one; especially if the problem cannot be viewed and indentified by others.

Current and numerous issues are the crux of this discussion. This is not about one defective knife.

I also agree 100%!! BUT going into a tirade is uncalled for (to me)
Post the problems and have proof... Dont just say your selling your collection and starting to collect CAXE Or GrohXXAN :D That gets nowhere..
I posted my situation CJ addressed it, Joe has already been contacted everything was smooth and civil.
Sometimes I wonder if these gents with the rude posts would post like that if they ever met Joe or Cj? Also what one person considers a flaw may not be...
(like liner lock position on a blade)
Also if you had a problem with a strider that you bought 4 years ago and bought a new one this year (that also had "problems" dont bash Bucks Post falls plant for Q.C. and say that there are no good knives that come from Post Falls when the first strider came from El Cajon CA..( Just an example I came up with :D)
IF there are problems in the warranty dept. and blade swaps it should be noted!!!!!! We do need to hear the good bad and ugly, there should just be a little respect involved.
Again my .02...

reading this reenforces my feelings toward buck knives. i might have to buy another one :D

or since the bucklite was discontinued (so i hear) and i can't find proteges anywhere, i might have to sell all of my bucks and buy gerb... just kidding. :)

seriously, though, that's customer service right there, people.

Jim:

What and/or where else can blame be placed, other than on the move to Idaho? The move is the variable that changed.

You bet! I agree, but with the strider the first one that wasn't up to his "standards" was from El Cajon, the second that was not up to his "standards" was Post Falls. I am not arguing the fact that there may be (or are) problems either- Buck_110 all I was trying to do is say there is (or should be) a proper way to address the problem without going off the deep end. (not you either)
We all have seen posts about problems or irregularities with the blade exchange and the warranty dept.
I can understand if someones 110 comes back from a blade swap all out of whack. But to blame Post falls for the strider issues isn't fair. The first one was CA.
The "repaired" 110 and Duke? were obvious problems!

anywhere, i might have to sell all of my bucks and buy gerb... just kidding. :)

This also strikes me as funny, LOL :D
(it reminds me of this) :D
There was a time- a LOOONNGgg time ago ;)
I somehow came to possess a GERB... Paraframe.
It was a framelock, and when you squeezed the handle (frame) to cut something like rope, the framelock would bend thus unlocking the blade and allowing it to drop.
I will say this Gerb..'s customer service in NOTHING like Bucks.
I could never even talk to someone higher than a secretary and they sure as heck never emailed me or posted in one of my threads:D
I think it may be at the bottom af a lake now...

I'm not blaming Idaho for California's issues. I'm also not saying that California didn't have their own issues either. It's the HUGE number of knives with issues coming out of Idaho.

P.S.: Also understand that I am not bashing Buck. I am merely jumping on issues that should not be. I would be able to purchase another vehicle if I sold off my Buck collection. My old lady would love that. It aint gonna happen though!:)

LOL
I know, I understand! Your posts are usually quite even tempered :D
There should not be these issues...
The one question I have now though is what kind of vehicle?
A Hummer? :D

He's mad because I posted this thread about how a rational person would post about a problem...

I told him he was bashing Buck in his other thread because he threatened to sell all of his buck knives because he got "a bad one". LOL :D
WOW. PAXIL...

Well, actually i'm not mad at all, just a little humor is all,no bad intentions, and also i did not threaten to do anything,be it selling something or otherwise,i never make threats, i'm a man of action,LOL.Also, your picture shows a knife that was intentionally misused,a knife is a cutting tool, not a chopper .

I think its not so much the problem with the knife ,but maybe thwe huge duty fees i have to pay each time that got me .You live in the U.S,so you don't know how fast it accumulates.

P.S. I don't take any meds, but thanks for the offer.

You are just sooking because someone made a post you thought was "bashing",Joe didn't seem to think so,and no one else except you is complaining,so if you don't like em',don't read or respond ,simple as that.

If you would like to say anything else,my phone number is (902)742-3007,feel free to call me anytime ,YOU ARE NO EXPERT ON EXACTLY HOW EVERYTHING SHOULD BE POSTED,OR ADDRESSED,some are rougher around the edge ,so what.

Sooking?
I am not an expert nope, I'm just saying to use a little common courtesy and respect ;)
Joe is way too nice and excellent for PR for Buck! :D
I am also not complaining, just be reasonable :D
I'm still waiting for the case and grohmann thing to happen :D then I wont have to read your posts :D
You shouldn't have to be an expert to communicate with others :D

If you would like to say anything else,my phone number is xxxxxxxxxx, feel

i don't think its a good idea you posting your phone number on a public site...

i've never dressed a deer, but i would think a hunting knife would stand up to the stresses of opening the chest cavity of one. i've banged blades against some hard stuff on the lobster boat like traps and runners and such, and chopped down saplings with a 110, and never had that happen. and the guys at buck seem to agree that the knife wasn't abused.

the purpose of these forums is for people to toss this stuff around. ith a great resource, imo, and i use it before i buy a knife, buck or otherwise.
