Has anyone ever made a Kuska

i understand they are traditionally made from birch...as such next time i come across a good sized birch, i intend to take a piece to make one from.

i'm quite happy with the performance of my plastic mug, but kuksas are neat and will give me something to cut...

Sycamore is very good. If you can find a small burl, which is common on sycamore you will be half way there.

Also I believe birch would work.

i like white cedar for carving projects. it is pretty hard but not so much that it is difficult to work with.

Wow, what a cool cup! I just ordered some Mora curved knives. Perfect timing!

To much oil for me. I wouldn't want to drink out of it.

I took down a small Basswood tree the other day, I may try with that. It would be a small one though.

That's a way cool looking cup/spoon. I'm not sure I'd have the patience to try making one.

I like using burning coals and pair of tongs to move the coal about, then scraping out the burnt wood. I've split a few pices mind you, still need to learn to control the burn rate.

not very good at carving though...
