Has anyone hunted with a slipjoint hunter ?

over the years I've used a couple of slip joints while hunting but my favorite is the case full size trapper with cv steel.yellow handled. skinned deer, squirrels and a couple of turkeys. worked as good as a fixed blade. later, ahgar

I have carried my Buck 373 hunting and never used it hunting. I have used it when fishing. I did once use my Opinel No.6 for some cutting on a deer, and it performed beautifully.

I would venture to say that pre 1962 or so a hunter who used a folder was using a slipjoint. A lot of single blade "hunters" (typically a large "coke bottle" or "clasp" knife) and 2 bladed "trappers" (regular and bullet or bullnose patterns (Remington "Bullet" patterns) were and are still seeing use for dressing game and I would bet muskratts and stockmen are/were also used especially on smaller game.

And you would be right. I used my Schrade "Hunter" (plus an old Scout hand axe) for Mulies and "Trapper" for quail, and dove. (The only lock-blade I had ever handled before a 110 was a brute of a Navy Life Boat knife -- with saw blade). The Schrades just cut better and got around inside an animal better than than my other choices at the time (WWII Q225 and Mk. II). Lots of cleaning up afterwards, however.
