Has anyone seen a knife like this one?

I'm looking for a knife like this:

http://www.lionsteel.it/fast/k/en/e/products/v/980

This is a lion steel sr-1. The problem is that it is just too expensive (390 dollars U.S.A.) and I really wish it was s30v or vg-10 or something more stain resistant than a d2 derivative.

What I LOVE about the blade (in the following order of most important to least) is:
1. Blade size and shape (especially that shape!)
2. frame lock (the only lock I would like better is an axis lock)
3. Clip mounting option on the rear of the handle (although any deep carry clip would be fine by me).
4. Titanium handle (although the g-10/Ti handle combos are ok too).

The knife kind of reminds me of the CRK Umnumzaan, except I prefer the asthetics of the SR-1 more.

Can anyone recommend a knife similar to this lion steel at about a 200 dollars price point? The things I listed under what I liked about the knife are all points I am looking for with the first two points being by far the most important.

What do you guys think?

How about the benchmade 755? It's a beefy blade with titanium frame lock. Not the same blade shape but I can't think of anything closer at the ~$200 price point. Fair warning though I get the impression from seeing it posted for sale that some of the people who have been buying it haven't been too happy with the purchase.

Chackoc:

Thanks for the reply. The Benchmade 755 is actually pretty close to what I'm looking for. What doesn't thrill me about it are two things:

The blade's point is a little lower than what would be more ideal (like the lion steel blade). I also feel that the grind starts lower on the blade than in the lion steel and that is less than ideal. Also, I'm mistrustful of the thumbstud. It seems to be funnel shaped which in my experience (which albeit is limited... I only own 9 knives and I'm new to collecting) makes deployment pretty tough.

May I ask what the negative things are that owners have to say about it?

Not exactly fitting your criteria, but knives which may be worth looking into...

Zero Tolerance 300
Combative Edge M1

Thanks for the reply. While I do like both knives (especially the ZT 300... similar to the ZT 350 which I have and love) I would prefer no recurve in the blade. Seems like I posed a pretty stiff challenge to the board.

I vote ZT300, 301, 302 That is as close as it will get I'm afraid.
I cannot say I like that particular knife (SR1). Looks more like a showpiece than a practical, get myself out of a tight sitation knife. Looks like something Sir Lancelot would carry.

you might be able to score a 300 series blem then have a krein regrind done on it, that would put you back ~200.

I don't know of any other knife that even comes close to everything the SR1 has incorporated into it. I haven't seen one that even has a similar shape regardless of materials. The Buck mayo TNT might be worth a look but it is quite different. I think they will be making one in aluminum at some point down the road but I like this titanium one much better (and I'm waiting for my 2 to get here). I'm not sure how I would feel about an aluminum frame lock that is going to be bent and cycled back and forth a lot.

I say if you like it just save up and get one from the next run. They are probably going to be a fairly unique knife and limited numbers because of how difficult they are to make. I can't wait for mine to get here and one will almost definitely be going into a pocket immediately which I haven't bought a knife in a while that I like better than my current line up of users and gets carried.

My experience has been that when one wants a knife, or anything else for that matter, one is better off merely saving up for it.

Eventually, all else is found wanting.

Oh damn, I think you guys might have talked me into it! :) What is in your rotation these days FlaMtnBkr?

Actually that Buck Mayo TnT is pretty close! It looks like it might be a bit small though. Anyone have any experience using the Buck Mayo TnT?

I'm envious FlaMtnBkr :) Let me know how you end up liking your SR-1's! If you decide you want to sell one please keep me in mind :)

The TNT looks nothing like the SR-1

-You want the FOX Cutlery (Italy) Pro Hunter. (Fixed + Folding)

It's basically the same knife with more affordable materials.

I have had a Benchmade Rift clipped to my front right pocket everyday since I got my first one over 2 years ago. My current one is one of the limited edition run in M4 that only 50 were made. I also have a yellow Salt 1 in my left pocket that I use as a money clip so I always have it because I live part time on the gulf coast and around salt water a lot. I will usually carry another 1 or 2 knives just so my others get some use. These are usually a ZDP/CF Stretch, a ZDP/CF Caly 3, a S90V Manix 2, a Benchmade 14205, a OD1, a Kershaw RAM. I have others I have used but don't carry anymore. I'm probably forgetting one or two since I don't have my box of knives with me right now and the last 2 are ones I use for more dirty jobs since they are cheaper if I destroy one. I have close to 30 knives that are new and sitting in their box. I like them but they haven't been what I consider better than the ones I use now. I don't have a place that I can handle knives so I buy them to check them out or because they are a limited run and I might be able to use them one day to trade for something that is harder to find.

Edit: and a Ti Camillus Dominator

HuntBomb: Wow that Hunter Pro is RIGHT on! I'm hesitant to pull the trigger though because it is a liner lock and a very thin looking one at that :(

The Bradley Alias 1 is a really nice knife. I don't feel like it really has the same type of blade shape that I am talking about though. It is something I am considering though as I like it on its own merits. It reminds me a lot of a Sebenza actually. Do you have much experience with an Alias 1? What do you think about the lock up and deployment action?
