Has anyone sold anything to platinum member "LIN" recently?

I received a message on Friday evening, from LIN, to buy an Emerson that I had listed on the exchange. I replied to the DM with my PP info, and that's when all communication with them stopped. I sent a couple more messages stating that as soon as the payment is sent, I will ship the knife with tracking. I finally gave up.

This morning, 2 days later, I woke up to a Paypal F&F payment from a Kalisimo LLC for the exact amount of the knife. Still, no messages from LIN with an address or any information.

These past GBU threads are pretty old. It seems like this is a Chinese account that uses 3rd party shipping addresses. With a history of PP charge backs, I'm about to refund this payment and block this member.

bax,

I sold one to LIN earlier this summer, transaction was uneventful. I will say I didnt realize the knife was headed to a re-shipper until it was on the way.

I've sent to overseas members who use re-shippers before, but the buyer advised ahead of time that was the case and for this one specifically he did not advise such.

(To clarify its a mild critique, but as the seller I'd prefer to know ahead of time in case there is a shipping issue that might need to be handled.)

Thanks for the reply. Glad it worked out for you

didn't you list it as only f&f zelle etc. all ways they have no buying protection, meaning you have about no risk? what did I miss?

No, I didn’t specify F&F or G&S in the listing. They went and paid F&F anyway. I guess I could have kept the money and shipped it once I had an address. Got a weird feeling about this situation, so I ended it.

I’ve sold a knife to Lin before. Tracking showed delivered on my end. He contacted me saying he didn’t get the knife, then contacted me shortly after to say he did have it.

I’m now guessing it’s whoever is in the states didn’t see it yet, then found it and let him know. 🤷‍♂️

I've had several dealings with him. He usually responds in the late night or early morning hours. His address is off of Bear rd in DE, iirc.

Well, the good news is that it can't be common practice to run chargebacks on paypal FF payments (otherwise you won't have paypal for very long).

I wouldn't mind selling to him under the agreement that once the package reached the middle man, your obligation was done.

That or only agreeing to ship when he's actually stateside.

Well, this was my first time dealing with an international buyer using a 3rd party shipper. I wish it had been stated from the get go.

I appreciate all the feedback!

Just don’t write all us internationals off. Granted I’m Australia not China and keep the knives for myself but I’ve had plenty of good dealings with folks out of the states 👍🏼

Got two in transit as we speak.

I include in my default sales language that my responsibility to international shippers ends when the knife arrives at the destination I mail it to. If they are using a mail forwarding service and it disappears after arriving there, there is no reasonable responsibility on my end, and I make that clear up front.

Had one for sale some time back, clearly stated US sales only unless discussed prior to sale. LIN claimed it and paid but when I looked at the PP G&S it was a higher fee. Little homework and realized it was being paid for by an overseas account and some more homework told me it would then be sent overseas. Refunded and cancelled the deal due to the lack of communication.

Not saying LIN is bad, and the language difference may have come into play as well, but at the same time too many people here just jump without doing due diligence. I don't care that LIN collects, and what a collection it is BTW, but my posts are truthful and I expect the same in return. Given the right circumstances I'd sell a knife to LIN, they've gotten a pretty bad rap in the past and I don't have enough information to judge, but seems like they're just a crazy rich collector.

Take a minute to be sure who you're dealing with, you can find a lot of information with a little Google legwork and it just might save a lot of scammer heartache as well.
