Has anyone used Harbor Freight's 110v spot welder?

Bill,I have the 220v version and it works well for me, Never tried the 110.

Thanks! If I got the 220, I would have to unplug the air conditioner to use it.
I just ordered the 120v version.
These things aren't a fire hazard, are they? Wooden floors in the shop!

I have one question, is the spot welding enough to get rid of any gap liner-bolster? I fear the spot welding won't prevent moisture to wick inside.
No fire hazard by the way :)

I have experience with factory knives with spot welded bolsters. There can be a gap if not securely welded. You can always spot weld the bolster in place, then solder it.

Thanks Bill, i have no direct experience with spot welded bolster but i also fear that when the welds "retire" could create a little distortion in the parts and show the seam.
Spot weld and solder may be better then only solder in terms of strenght, but the spot may show in the finishing with stainless.
cheers

Stefano
