I am not personally bothered by it. Heck, I am downright disgusting sometimes and this is just a little smile icon.

But is there any concern that the people we want here, such as experts and manufacturer's reps, might see it and not get the best impression? Hanging out in unofficial forums is not something they have to do by default, so why make bladeforums look like the kind of place where people are vulgar (yes, I am suggesting false advertising ) when these people are pondering joining in?

Right now the tool box or whatever you call it shows this one in all forums as far as I can tell. Can it be made to only show up in the more recreational forums?

Any place where you find people, you'll find people who are "vulgar".
