Has MJ&S taken the money and run

Look's like the "knifeman" has closed his doors. His web site is gone, won't reply to e-mail, and no knife!!!!!!!!!!! This is my first experance with him (not so good) and my last. I've read a lot of you taking up for him but the bottom line is he has done a big injustice to a lot of people. Not to mention taken there money.
 
This was also my first experience with him. He hasn't replied to any of my e-mails. I just want to know what's going on with the knife?
 
This is my second time, the first was before X-mas 1999, he took a month to get me my knife then, barely in time to wrap and give to my brother.
 
I've had more than a few dealing with Mark and they've all been good. I also know that a while ago there was a note from him stating that there had been a death in the family. As it stands I would like to say that I hope everything is okay with MJ&S and that everything should be back to normal soon.

HOWEVER....

I do have been unable to get any response from his email for several weeks and I know the account is still good since none of my messages are getting bounced back to me. Also, his web page is down. I really don't know what is going on.

 
Man, this is horrible... I read the thread "MJ&S Knives? Whats going on?" and I have to say that what is happening to everyone that had made orders with MJ&S Knives is unacceptable. I feel really bad for you guys having to have to wait so long for your knives, and bearing with this horrible service (no service).

I'm not trying to be the bad guy here, but I think maybe you guys should report this to the post office or better business bureau, and try to get your money back.

I don't know MJ&S Knive's reputation, nor have I ever made an order with them.. but from what it looks like, you guys are probably going to wait forever for those knives if you're going to get them at all.
 

These poor guys have been waiting 86 days = three months:

1) Kozak
2) Kidd
3) Krumbs

When I tried to tell you guys to "reverse the charges", I was severely attacked by MJSknives "groupies". I guess the loyal defenders have run out of ammo. They have run out of "excuses" and "justifications".

I interview criminals for a living. I listen to stories, excuses, lies and motives daily.

Since I went against the flow, I was jumped by his loyalists.

The famous big five excuses.........

1) Death in the family.
2) Lease ran out.
3) Computer broke.
4) Moving locations.
5) His web site had the plug pulled. (shutdown) probably delinquent.

His phone number changed.

He still will not answer his e-mails.

 
I have been dealing with Mark @ mjsKnives for last 5 to 6 years even back when his Dad ran the business, Mark is a great guy to deal with He has had alot of hardships in the last few months, He has never treated me wrong in any way & would never do this to anyone unless there was a major hardship he has to deal with & Im sure he will contact everyone that has emailed him or has knife deals pending with him as soon as whatever is happening works itself out...Trust me Mark is an AWESOME GUY, & im sure he will make everything right with you guy`s as soon as he returns

HariKari, as I far as I am aware, I am the only one who has been waiting 86 , now 87 days for my order to show.

Krumb has now been waiting 35 days.

Kidd has been waiting 17 days.

Check your references again, please.

As I have mentioned previously, I can only wait for Mark to make good on my and other orders and getting emotional over this is counterproductive.

I'm not here to make excuses, just to state the facts. I took the time to read the 4 topics totaling 136 posts related to MJ&S. Here is the info that I gathered:

Kozak: ordered 7/9 still no knife. Waiting rather patiently I might add.
Flood: ordered 8/1 - reimbursed on 9/12
jgs9455: ordered 8/15 - reversed charges on 9/15
swampgator: ordered 8/20 - no knife as of 10/1
Krumbs: ordered 8/30 - still no knife
bteel: ordered 9/5 - received 9/21
Kidd: ordered 9/17 - still no knife
Raider: no dates, no knife
Harikari: no recent order

Oh, and by the way I ordered an LCC MA on 9/15 and received it on 9/21.

So thats a total of 9 complaints (I wasn't complaining) of which 1 knife has been received, 2 people have gotten there money back, 5 are still waiting, and 1 who hasn't even ordered anything.
And during this time period Mark has had to deal with a death in the family, and moving an entire business.
Kozak, I wish there was something I could do, hang in there.

For me what is most frustrating is that he will not answer e-mails, yet he will post on forums(not just the 4 or 5 mjs forums, others also). I think sending an e-mail to krumbs, raider, swampgator, and myself isn't asking too much. Just an update on our order status. Isn't that reasonable, not to mention good business?
 
My order was a web order placed on Aug 23, 2000. Today it makes 42 days. Not only does he not respond to e-mail, he won't return messages left on his "NEW" phone number. I lost count on how many times I've left messages. The "knifeman" did send one e-mail on 26 Sep. stating that "it looks to me like it was sent out", everything is done on this end but theres no tracking number assigned for your package. So i will check this a bit further and be right back to you".
Has not gotten back and still no knife!!!!!

Here's my perspective -

I have a knife on order at Chai Cutlery. As we all know, Chai Cutlery is facing a problem that they would rather not be facing. I haven't heard from Toni Mattis, or any other representative of Chai Cutlery. To be honest, I don't expect to hear from them any time soon, and, knowing the circumstances, I really don't fault them for it.

I don't know Mark, and I've never done business with MJS, but I have been around here for more than a short while, and everything ever said about Mark up until this point has been favorable.

My thought is that sometimes bad things happen to good people, and they're put into circumstances that they can't avoid. I don't blame you folks for being upset. But it's time to consider your points noted. Mark is apparently not taking any new orders, so there's no "warning other people" that you need to do. If you can take Harikari's advice, then do - reverse the charges on your CC. If not, you just might be out of luck. It happens.

In any case, add up the amount you all have paid Mark - I doubt very much that combined and multiplied by 10 it would be enough for Mark to be skipping town and setting up a new life with. I also doubt that it's enough to pay off an average hospital bill, funeral bill, bankruptcy attorney, or even major car repair.

I sincerely doubt that Mark has transformed into a shady character, tossed his sterling reputation to the wayside, forsaken his friends, and absconded with your money for any purposes that are in any way pleasant or agreeable to him.

When my dealer left I went to Mark cause he is right next door to me! he has never gave me a problem.he is a man of his word! I dont know what happen but I do think he will get around to you guys!
 
Good point Brian.......I just can't imagine Mark all of a sudden taking a turn for the worst and becoming a crook. As much as I have spoken with Mark in the past, it just does not seem to coinicide with his character. You guys do have every right to be upset, especially waiting for the length of time you have, so I am not discounting your emotions and feelings about the situation. Something obviously has or had gone wrong with his circumstances.

It good to hear someone else state their opinion of Mark, without trying to take away from those left in the dark by all of this. I was tired of getting kicked in the junk.

I don't understand how one day, everything is cool, then the next, everything is basically shut down. I only hope things are OK for Mark, as I know it has to be pretty damned bad for him to let all this happen.

...and I mean pretty DAMNED BAD.

Yes, it is up now and I received email from Mark today indicating my order has been shipped. Anxiously awaiting the same. With the exception of receiving the order, I feel better that this is coming to a resolution in my case.. I hope the same will be true for others.

The knife I ordered should be in tomorrow, if so it will also be shipped tomorrow. If that knife goes in the mail tomorrow, i'll feel like this guy
