Has the CS Chaos line been a failed series?... IMO, yes, I believe so...

I was able to find this online vendor offering the Chaos Push Dagger at that low price. It sure wasn't any of the internet knife retailers, which are selling it in the $50 range, give or take a few bucks. However, this online vendor is claiming the blade is AUS-10A, whereas the knife retailers list it as SK-5. They also claim the blade is polished, though the picture they have is of course the black blade. Nice discount, but is it the real deal? Or is somebody at this online vendor asleep at the wheel?
It is totally a reputable site, but they do screw the pooch on specs a lot.
Their operation is big, and they actually stock what they have on their website. I have ordered from them for a good long time, never had an issue with them. A+ and fully legit 👍

If I already didn't have my two Chaos Push Knives in my collection, I'd be surely placing an order for a couple/few of them now. With Christmas getting closer, these could be a pretty cool stocking stuffer for the right person, and again, the price is great 👍🎄😊

I found the vendor in question, and believe they just labeled it incorrectly. The vendor is a good one that wouldn’t sell fakes.

Agreed, they are totally legit, but as you said, "but they do screw the pooch on specs a lot."
Apparently, but this is one of the dumbest examples of that kinda thing I've seen in a long time. How somebody confuses SK-5 with AUS-10A, and on top of that, describes an obviously black blade as polished is beyond me. I guess it's good that there are plenty of other sources for the specs on knives and other items that they sell so at least customers can know the actual facts about what they want to buy.

On the other hand, they do have some really good deals at times, so there is that.

Probably not, but 2 rather obvious mislabelings, along with the super discount no one else (that I'm aware of)
seems to have... I don't think it's unreasonable to at least wonder... But unless it is proven that the push daggers aren't real deal, they will be regarded as being real deal. They probably just want to get rid of their current stock to make room for other knives or something.

And it is an awesome price. Who knows, some of the knife retailers might run a similar sale at some point, maybe Christmas or Black Friday...

I was just thinking how cool it would be to get one ordered and have it arrive as described! I mean, just imagine if the vendor got a hold of a limited run of Aus10 stainless steel versions that maybe Cold Steel then decided to switch to SK-5, and bingo boingo, you wind up with a very RARE Cold Steel product...

I know, like way far fetched... But hey, ya just never know! lol! 😆

PocketKnifeJimmy,

I like the way you think. I'm pretty sure they were SK-5 from the get-go, but who knows, maybe CS did do a limited run, didn't announce it, what with the transition and all, and the vendor happened to get them as an exclusive that just kinda slipped under the radar... You might be on to something... 😀

I've purchased duplicates of some of the Chaos series models. I had three total of these duplicates... the Tanto, the Kukri, and the Push Knife.
My duplicate Chaos Tanto went bye bye, as it was given to a friend of mine for his birthday.
I still have the duplicate Chaos Kukri & Chaos Push Knife.
I'm thinking I will hold onto them, and maybe use them at some point as trading fodder. The Push Knife won't make for a great trading tool, but the Chaos Kukri model looks and feels pretty bad arse in hand, so that one could make for some good trading, or even a selling it outright deal 👍😊👍

For those people who think push daggers don't offer a secure enough grip, this monster does.

For those who like knuckledusters as paperweights, this Chaos includes a handy letter opener, making it a superior desktop accessory.

I'll bet it could even spread peanut butter.

Jimmy is a bad influence, forcing me to buy stuff I don't need.

"Need" has nothing to do with it, lol! 😆😉👍

So... I now have all five of my Chaos models, (a couple in duplicate), placed within my eclectic collection.
Once the Chaos Bowie model becomes available again, and I get one, it too will be added into the mix somewhere 👍😁👍

My little domain has just enough heating, air conditioning, and a dehumidifier, to help me in keeping the right air quality control, (keeping my items safe). Also, the glass topped displays help with keeping dust issues at bay.

My domain is basically my own little private museum, one which contains items that make me smile 😃

Thanks! I just ordered two of them, plus a CS Black Fly.
That's cool, taking advantage of that kind of a deal is the best way to get a couple of these, that's for sure! You are paying less for two of them than what they would usually price only one for 👍😁👍
They may be having one of their free s&h deals too this week, that is, when one spends something like $50 or over type of thing. Please come back here and share your findings with us when they arrive... Good luck 👍🍀😊🍀👍

PS.
Seeing the Double Edged Chaos Trench Knife being clearance priced at Knifecenter, and Cold Steel' latest Chaos Push Knife model being ridiculously clearance priced at another online vendor, has my gut feeling that the entire Chaos series will be gone from Cold Steel' line-up by the time their new 2022 catalog is put out. While it was Lynn Thomson that made his decisions in 2020 to pick which items would be in the 2021 catalog, it will be GSM's decisions now for the picks to put into their upcoming Cold Steel 2022 catalog.
My crystal ball says, (my prediction)... GSM's Cold Steel will, or already has, phased out all Chaos series model production, and will not be included in their 2022 line-up.
If my guess is correct, what is already out there on the vendor's shelves, (and whatever number of specimens that are still on their way here by incoming ships at sea), will be the last of the Chaos series to be offered via Cold Steel and it's vendors.
While that may seem like a lot still to be around, with Christmas right around the corner, I see products moving faster than usual off the shelves, especially since there will be shortages of products this year for gift giving items. The frenzy to buy early and in quantity will catch on quickly.

Yup... it's time to buy some Chaos! 😁

Just wanted to add a post that shows pics of the entire Chaos series, (excluding the synthetic/plastic training versions). Here are the six models...

From top to bottom...

Chaos Kukri

Chaos Tanto

Chaos Stiletto

Chaos Push Knife

Chaos Double Edged Trench

Chaos Bowie

I believe the very first offerings were the Double Edged Trench and the Tanto. The Tanto got discontinued a few years back, while the Double Edged Trench Knife proved to be a decent seller, and has made it through up until now.
It seems that every time a new Chaos model was put out, they didn't sell too well and got dropped. The last two added to the series was the Bowie and then the Push Knife. The Push knife seems to have been a major flop for them, while the Bowie has had some traction.
Even so, it's pretty safe to guess that no more new Chaos models will be added in, and that the entire series has likely already been placed on the chopping block.

Catalog? I figured something bad was in the wind when Lynn stopped printing his catalogs.

I wanted to add this info into this thread... That is, the Chaos Stiletto' spike material and method in which they were made.

When I first purchased mine, the online info was a bit all over the place, many listing the tri edged spike as being made out of SK-5.

Well, no, they were not made of SK-5... They were made out of drop forged 4140 steel. You may think that as being strange, because edge holding would not be at all optimal for knife steel... But, this was never a knife...
They are more like a short hand held spike bayonet 😁

So, again, the tri edged spike on the Chaos Stiletto is made from drop forged 4140 steel.

I would guess that the Chaos Stiletto was likely CS' worst seller out of the series, (although this years Chaos Push Knife may outdo it in that category).
It certainly has the most limited use/most impractical of the them all, even with the Chaos Push Knife being added into that mix.
But, imo, it really is quite the stout/robust feeling and unique looking model of them all.
Yeah, it's just a "ah, why not" type of an item that is likely to only be used as a cool conversation piece in one' man cave 😆

True story! 😁

Chaos Bowie's are in stock! You know what to do.

I decided not to get it.
To be honest, I think I am content with my current inventory of Cold Steel.
I will likely not add anything in from this point on. The Chaos Bowie was to complete my Chaos series, but I realized it wasn't so important for me to bother with that after all.

I set out during the start of 2021 to acquire some Cold Steel specimens that I maybe hesitated getting in the past and such. Models that also represented the Lynn Thompson era, since I felt changes were certainly to come. In the end, I wound up getting a lot more CS than I had initially planned on getting.
Now it's 2022, and while I will be curious to see what their new catalog contains, I'm pretty sure I am done with my CS buying spree. It was fun while it lasted 👍😆👍

Btw, back to the Chaos series... My 2021 purchase of the Chaos Push Knife was probably my top disappointment in acquiring a Cold Steel product.
While the blade and sheath were exactly what I expected, the plastic handle felt cheesier than I had expected it would, and the two striker knobs being made of plastic was also a major disappointment.
I mean, the Chaos Push Knife is really a drop from the rest of the series.
