Has the Hinderer bubble broke?? A lot for sale on the forum.

I think he is saying the Izula is as easy to pocket but tougher in terms of hard use. IMO they are nice looking knives but are too thick for what most people use knives for. Kind of fun and all but not as functional as a knife that is build for slicing.

I guess that's just a matter of perspective, then. I already carry folders that are the same size or larger than the XM-18s.

Nevermind

I dont disagree with Ricks way of selling his knives. He built them to meet the needs of soliders and first responders. It is simple really if you want one you will pay what someone is asking or you can justify not buying it by saying its not worth it.

Wow, very condescending. Just because somebody doesn't think an item is worth a particular price doesn't mean they're in some way trying to mentally cope with not being able to afford it.

There is a finite number of people on BF who can afford them. I'm not a maf genius but I would wager that the rate at which Hinderer produces knives is faster than the rate of gain of people who can pay second hand prices joining BF, therefore the number of FS might only go up as time goes on?

I had a 3" slicer... Sweet knife. Excellent construction. I sold it because it felt odd in my hand. I kind of regret selling it though--I probably will get another one someday.

I had two 3 inchers and meh. They are nice but I really liked CRK and Strider more. Plus it was hard to keep it when I knew how much I could sell it for.

$395+ if you are allowed. If you're not allowed then some random made up price which changes faster than Amazon prices on everything they sell.

I own a 3" XM-18 slicer. It's my favorite knife over a regular small Seb, large Seb, VECP, 2 Dauntless, SMF, Les Voorhies Model 10, many Benchmades, and a few Spydercos. Something wrong with me??? Cost me a lot but I sold 1/2 the knives that it made obsolete so in the end I came out ahead. Awesome knife. I don't think the Hinderer bubble will ever burst. People will always want to try one. Some will decide to move it along and some will decide it's the best knife ever. Everyone's different and it's ridiculous to question someone else's reasons for paying whatever they pay for a knife. I once thought CRKs prices were ridiculous when the most expensive knife I owned was a Spyderco Native.

Secondary prices for Hinderers are pretty stable on the forums. At least thats my impression from the past 8 months since I've been buying and selling them. I see Striders and CRKs for the same prices or more on-line.

The secondary prices for the XM24 is in the 1000$ range....... I'm not paying that (even if I could afford it.) I wish Hinderer would at least offer a few knives direct for a limited time (first come first serve) before he let the secondary market's mark-ups take hold. Purposefully allowing his knives to have such markups without even giving a chance to the average consumer is a bit shameful in my opinion... I'll stick with strider for the moment.

Unless it's a miracle steel, I'll never pay such ridiculous prices for a knife. I can, but I'm practical rather than materialistic. A knife is for using, for cutting. If you have a $100 Spyderco/Benchmade etc with awesome fit and finish, with the same steel, then you're set. The only thing you should be paying higher prices for should be a real, one of a kind custom that will accrue many times its value with age. As for Rolex...ha, I use my phone to tell the time unless I'm out in the woods. I've nearly phased out watches altogether, because at this point they've become an accessory/status symbol. Like so many other things that men have made into parallels of a woman's jewelry, or handbag, or shoes. Just my .02.

Here is one of my " materialistic" knives -

Above photo after reprofiling it due to.....use, hard use. My edc for the last 10 months which has proved to be both useful and tough - an opinion based on experience.

Of course only knife snobs would own such a knife....one of my other EDC's - a whole $30 worth.

I'll never understand why first responder would need a high-end expensive folder when 30$ fix blade will be far better alternative at any crisis...

The one who really need it is we guy, knifenut

They have access to the XMs for $385 and some do indeed use them, there is a post somewhere on the Hinderer forum from a member in the military, the XM has had the snot beaten out of it, still works just fine but it looked in need of TLC.
