Has your knife ever helped you out of a dangerous situation?

well, my wife thinks I smell good! Any other opinion is way secondary to hers. Although, after walking an hour or so in Alabama in August.......

The dog did mellow out and return. Because why, maybe your response theory, maybe cause the owner, but to assume that the poster smells awful?
I've got a dog that wouldn't stop, he'd charge, snarling and barking, only to bowl you over with kisses and a wagging tail. Scary as hell if you don't know the dog. I have to keep a real close eye on him for that reason alone, he scares people. If the poster thought he was in danger, he did the right thing. And to assume that he needs to learn canine awareness and shouldn't have attempted to protect himself is dumb. I'd say his "canine awareness" is doing just fine.

I think he was joking. ;)

To stay on topic, though, I have yet to need to use my knife in an emergency situation but I am prepared to if necessary. The closest I've gotten is using the metal flat-end shovel I keep in my car to dig myself out of an ice storm. I sharpened the end for that very task and it does quite well.
