Has your phone replaced all other devices?

I have not owned a computer for approximately 3 years. I currently have a LG Optimus G Pro. Big ass phone. It satisfies all my electronic device needs. All my pics and videos are taken with my phone and uploaded from it. I do all my posting from my phone.

And I occasionally talk to people on it.

Anybody else do the same?

I have a work computer and an ipad, but my phone can serve just about all my electronic needs. When the iPad dies I prob won't replace it

I still need a keyboard, mouse, and big screen(s) for serious work. But I use them a lot less.

The phone has replaced a small camera I used to carry, my microcasset recorder, and a few other things too.

I used to be a total computer nerd. As time went by I used my computers less and less. Now I do most everything from my galaxy note and my iPad. I do miss some of the functionality of a computer. The windows tablets seem like they may bridge the gap. I haven't tried one yet tho..

Not entirely. I'll always "need" a computer. Between the mouse, keyboard, external harddrives, and a larger screen (my 42" HDTV), a cell phone or even a tablet isn't a full substitute for a computer. Plus, there's certain things you can do easily on a computer that are difficult or impossible on a phone/tablet - even things as mundane as viewing certain websites; ads/popups, font formatting, and Flash content can make web browsing extremely frustrating. I have to use 3 different browsers on my phone. I prefer Dolphin because it's fast and formats text properly. But it doesn't support Flash. The stock browser supports Flash, but the controls are clunky. Firefox supports flash, but it does goofy things with text size formatting. I can use Tapatalk, but it doesn't do anything with text sizes or colors. All are a poor substitute for a proper computer with a proper browser.

Even with mass storage (I have a 64gb card in my phone) it doesn't replace the Sansa Clip Zip+ mp3 player I have, because I can clip it to the straps of my backpack, giving me easy access to its controls without having to dig into my pocket while riding my bike. And obviously, when it comes to video (and sound), a 42" HDTV trumps a 4.3" qHD screen.

It hasn't even replaced my digital camera because, outdated though it is, it has features and settings (optical zoom, exposure settings, etc) that a cell phone doesn't. Plus I can't mount my cell phone on a tripod.

That said, the capabilities of a smartphone are simply amazing. If I knew what they'd be able to do now, I probably wouldn't have bought a laptop years ago, but gone with a more powerful desktop like I always have. Even owning a laptop, I might not even bother taking it with me if I were to travel (which I don't do often). I'd just make do with my phone.

I do plan on getting a tablet. I meant to months ago, but I've been holding off for the 2nd gen Nexus 7.

Samsung galaxy note does everything on the go and the full size desktop computer with 2 screens handles the heavy computing at home. I travel with the SGN and do not own a TV.

Phones and tablets are fine for light duty browsing, but I need a real screen and keyboard to do anything else. It always makes me laugh when I see my niece or nephew watching a movie on a iPad mini when there's a 60 inch flat screen sitting in the same room.

My Samsung SII Skyrocket has replaced my camera, video camera and vehicle GPS. Its awesome. But it will never replace the functionality of my laptop, if for no other reason than the user interface.

I use my phone for a lot of things, but I need a real computer, which use it for working from home too. It just offers more capabilities. I also have a real camera which has a nice big zoom, but the phone is great for having always a simple camera in the pocket.

I use the computer for computing needs and sending emails.

I use the telephone for nothing more than making regular phone calls.

About the camera, I use it for making pictures. Then I go and get prints made at the photo finishing places, and send/share my pictures out to others using standard mail service. Its been struggle to work with photos on a computer and gave up on it many years ago:thumbdn:.

Until they find a way to let me play real games on a phone, I'll always need a computer. That, and I write a lot. Touch screens aren't the best for that, especially when they're tiny.

I use my phone for basically everything. ..when it comes to watching movies I usually prefer a larger screen.

It has replaced my camera and my watch. It hasn't replaced my little LED keychain light, but it could. It should have replaced my land line but my wife wants to keep it.

It has not replaced my desktop for work or serious surfing, the screen is too small and a lot of sites don't open well on the phone. I'm all thumbs when it comes to typing on the small screen ;) so I never type more than a few words. But for jumping on quick for some information, checking email etc. it has.

Ready to take the plunge, but I'm waiting for an Android or iOS app to control my wireless woshuretto (ウォシュレット). Can anyone help me out?
