Hatamoto

Picked up a hatamoto few weeks back it's sharp but not as sharp as some of the newer steels out there is San mai 3 still a good steel or should I just keep this knife on the shelf

That model went extinct in 2010 so probably has collector value if it's in good shape.
The Hatamoto I think retained the Aus8 core Samai because the markings never switched
to the VG1 Core Sanmai as several other CS models did after 2007.

Ya it was bnib with original receipt I also picked up a sog original s94 tomcat 2

The recept was from 2008 worth 400$ from the same dealer I buy from

This knife has an AUS8 core and 420 outer layers. Newer models have a VG-1 core.

Ya I see that doesn't seem to get as sharp as the newer steels like s30 or n690
