You can run a chainsaw's chain dryon moose, but vegetable oil, or similar lubricant seems to be very popular in Newfoundland.
A chainsaw is a big help with moose.
On elk, a cleaver is great, but a stout knife, ala Chris Reeve One Piece Range and a baton will work, as well.
A good sharp folder and a Shadow IV has done much for me while hunting larger game. But, a quad or a horse and a few strong friends aren't such a bad idea either.
