Hattori SOG

Anybody have any experience with Hattori knives? I can't confirm, but I had heard that Hattori was a (or the) Japanese sub-contractor who manufactures the SOG S1. Is this fact or fiction?

the design is the same as the SOG s1.
SOG stood for Special Opreations Group during the war in Vietnam and they were issued this specific design.
Now SOG has these knives made in Seki City, Japan.
Seems that Hattori claims to be among the finest makers in Seki City.
So this is a recreation of a very desirable design. If you happen to see a Vietnam era Special Operations Group knife for sale you're gonna see a price at least 10 times what the Hattori costs.
I bought this design from SOG many years ago and I believe they've held their value or appreciated since then.
