Got a new one from Bryan Breeden in today. My original idea was a superlight Peacemaker of sorts, conceived right after butchering deer last fall. I thought a lighter, narrower, thinner knife would be a bit nicer for butchering. Then I realized that with a little tweaking my "superlight peacemaker" could make an awesome light camp/fishing/butchering knife. I slapped the handle I came up with for the wharncliffe on a Peacemaker-like blade, and there you go. This knife is going to get a lot of time on my belt while fishing, camping and backpacking. It's a really boring knife to look at, but I think it is going to be a winner.

Specs:
Name: LiCK (Light Camp Knife)
4.5" handle
5.5" blade
3/32" thick O1 steel
1" tall bladestock (pretty narrow, yes)

You should be able to see everything else you'd ever want to know about this knife. Let me know what y'all think.

Now for a few family shots... Peacemaker, LiCK, and Wharncliffe

Despite having a pretty small handle, it's very comfortable in hand in my opinion. The small handle also contributes to light weight. Balance is just behind the pin nearest the blade, perfect!

And last, a spine shot with the wharny(5/32" stock)

Hopefully I'll get to take it outside tomorrow and do some real testing with it. Didn't get to use it any tonight.

That should make one hell of a deer knife. I consider a 4.5" blade the perfect length for field processing of deer.

The thin blade should work well de-boning the hams and working around the spine to get the backstraps out losing only minimal amounts of meat.

Very nice...

I like it. I'm not a hunter, but I like to fish AND cook, and I imagine that knife could do great work cleaning a fish, then help me cook and eat it.

Hi all,

Rocketbomb glad you like your LiCK LOL I really like the name to, that you came up with. That 5.5" blade is just so cool. I really like that blade length and have made several knives with it on some of my personal knives.
Being a pretty narrow blade and with 3/32" thickness that is going to make a great cutter. Let us know how it does when you get to out and use it.:D

Take care and chat with you later,

Bryan
