Got a new one from Bryan Breeden in today. My original idea was a superlight Peacemaker of sorts, conceived right after butchering deer last fall. I thought a lighter, narrower, thinner knife would be a bit nicer for butchering. Then I realized that with a little tweaking my "superlight peacemaker" could make an awesome light camp/fishing/butchering knife. I slapped the handle I came up with for the wharncliffe on a Peacemaker-like blade, and there you go. This knife is going to get a lot of time on my belt while fishing, camping and backpacking. It's a really boring knife to look at, but I think it is going to be a winner.
Specs:
Name: LiCK (Light Camp Knife)
4.5" handle
5.5" blade
3/32" thick O1 steel
1" tall bladestock (pretty narrow, yes)
You should be able to see everything else you'd ever want to know about this knife. Let me know what y'all think.
Now for a few family shots... Peacemaker, LiCK, and Wharncliffe
Despite having a pretty small handle, it's very comfortable in hand in my opinion. The small handle also contributes to light weight. Balance is just behind the pin nearest the blade, perfect!
And last, a spine shot with the wharny(5/32" stock)
Hopefully I'll get to take it outside tomorrow and do some real testing with it. Didn't get to use it any tonight.
