Very nice knives at the photo album(the first pic did not load) the knife labeled Mom's gift is very attractive. Maple handle? How did you stain and or darken it? Very nicely finished.

Actually, I'm unsure as to the exact type of wood...I sort of jokingly called it "Tigerwood," but it resembles some other scales I'm currently working on that were given to me under the name of Winewood. Search me...

Actually, the finish is nothing more than a smooth sanding, and a buffing with white rouge (white rouge? Isn't that an oxymoron? Anyway--that's what it is). I find that it gives a nice lustre to the wood, and is easy to touch up when it gets dinged.
