Also, is the type of steel used always marked on the blade? In other words, will you be able to tell which steel your blade is made from?
USUALLY,
blades are stamped w/ the type of steel.
Often times we fk it up though.
To date, all forlders have been made of BG42. If your blade is stamped ATS sorry.
We are still a little ways off on the S30V.
As I understand it the reason Striders aren't getting lots (any) of S30V out to the market is the following: they're working up their own numbers to really get the most of the material for the heat treat instead of just using those 'given'
You can bet when they start selling the S30V knives they'll be the best they can make them!
I am with Hammerhead on this... The knife says "STRIDER" on its is mine or will be. And as far as ATS-34 strikes on knives not made from ATS-34 they will be worth more down the road if your kids try to sell them or their kid or their kids or.... Ya get the picture; Mick and Duane use the best.
