have we learned nothing?

Don't be so quick to discount the #33. You get just about as much blade as a #66 in a smaller, lighter package.

Small knives are okay, but I really like a bigger knife. I like something that will slice through an apple without having to cut around it.

I will say, that I have become a big fan the small pen blade though.... stick that on a bigger knife and it's like having the best of both worlds. Let's see, a two spring knife with a Clip or Spear, Wharncliffe, and a pen. Maybe like a Moose with a pen. :D

Sorta like this?

Not my first choice in knife, but I want one. Would be great at camp slicing tomatoes and whatnot. It's a little skinny.... I'd like something that I could skin with, slice fruit/vegetables, and a litte work blade (pen).

I have to cast another vote for the #33: compact but surprisingly able. Plus, I like its less usual look.

"Have we learned nothing?"

Well, it's taken me a long time, but I finally learned that what kind of knife you carry doesn't really matter at all. Just make sure you carry one. Up to you and your taste if you carry a large trapper, medium stockman, or a peanut, or even just a tiny Vic classic. Most times you won't really need it, but if you need it, you may need it very badly. Just make sure it's sharp. Lernt that from my old man.

Carl.

I have a White Owl with a bail - it is a very nice touch. I wish I could get a Conductor with bail - those look so classy, especially the ebony.

Well, I was disappointed that the white owl didn't have a bail, but I have been carrying this one for a couple days. Great little knife. I might get one with a bail, I've surprised myself in how many times I've used it over the weekend.

I've been carrying a smaller traditional a lot lately, and whichever one I'm carrying tends to get a lot of use. I work in retail, and while a larger folder is fine for busting boxes and such in the back room, they tend to be a bit intimidating to customers. A knife like my Case tiny trapper in the 5th pocket of my jeans is perfect for any cutting jobs that need to be done on the sales floor. Took me a while to come to this point of view, but I'm sure happy that I have.

Yes, I've learned something.

Jeans have several pockets for good reason:p
One for a larger knife, one for a medium knife, and a watch(knife) pocket for a small one:thumbup:
