I've seen a some who play both.
IDK. I've been a member here since 05. I'm also on supporting member on BCUSA and a fishing forum.I think a few may have moved to the BCCI site. I notice Armand Hernandez and Joe Houser play there on occasion.
I've seen a some who play both.
I think the BCCI site is friendlier for persons wanting to know what their knife is worth or to sell it.
Gold membership here is a high price of admission for that information.
I did finally create a Facebook account primarily to be able to join some special interest groups and have poked into the BCCI site a few times but not enough to become familiar with what the culture and knowledge base is there.
Life challenges and circumstances change for all of us. Participation in groups like this is not a forever thing.
probably got bored or other interests grabbed all his spare time.Anyone know what happened toEnzo’s Woodshop ? He always post awesome stuff done with a 124
I talked with Mike aka Makael in Feb. he was good, just busy on lots of things......Makael (Mike Looper) is another interesting guy who doesn't play here any more.
Starting Fixed Blade Friday thread was his last hurrah as I recall.
forums had their time in the 2000s and 2010s but now they are fading. likewise Facebook is losing members rapidly. it's now older millenials and older generations on it. kids today don't even want to be on it. its why meta/facebook bought Instagram and other platforms to grab the younger kids. Instagram, tiktok and other younger platforms are where the youngsters are. platforms fall in and out of favor......Evolving this thread.. Does FaceBook, (and the FB BCCI forum) attract a different and younger crowd?
I belong to a local club, Saint Louis Antique Arms Collectors Association. Just a group of old men now, and getting smaller every year.
No new blood coming in. I expect the younger generation does not have the expendable income to spend on gun collecting my (older) generation did.
Back in the 80's we had several hundred members. Now days it's about 10-15 showing up for the monthly meeting . We used to put on Gun Shows but quit some years ago due to cost, liability, and manpower issues.
I would hate to see this forum go stale, even Buck Inc. does not play here anymore. in the early years, Chuck, CJ, and Joe popped in once in awhile.
I dont use any of them myself either. have zero interest in facebook, Twitter, tiktok, Instagram, whatsapp or any of the rest. somethings aren't better than they used to be.Guess I'm really old, don't know anything about Instagram and tiktok. Just what is a tweet? To me Tweety Pie is a cartoon character.
My nieces and nephews put their lives out there on facebook. The social connection aspect is not for me, send an email, use the phone, or better yet, come visit.
Well, Saturday was National Grouch Day, and I felt right at home. I think the forum has seen a change in the last 10-20 years. This forum and the BCCI facebook forum now seem to have little interest in the history of the knives—the emphasis has become "look at what I just got" , especially some limited edition or after-market custom knife. Sometimes threads are started for a particular model and the starter of the thread is surprised about such basic things as the date for first production of the knife model which is the subject of the thread. I wonder if, for me, it might me just as good to find a handful of kindred spirits and communicate privately.Just a group of old men now, and getting smaller every year.
