Have you already found the "perfect" one?

I just ordered an Acies2. I hope I've made a good choice. I wanted a small Sebenza first, but started reading about the Acies2 and finally settled on that one.

I've got a couple of drawers full of "perfect" knives. Over the years I've learned what makes a knife perfect for each of my different needs (hunting, urban EDC, etc.), a while ago I sold all the knives that I didn't really like and kept the ones I do use often.

I'd be lying if I said I could choose a single favourite, it takes me hours to select my knives and tools whenever I go on a trip away from home.

Not yet..... that's why I chose to start carrying 2 knives. A small sebenza for the delicate cutting (opening envelopes and packages) and a strider sng in case I ever need to open a can of beans. :D

I have an xm18 slicer grind on the way, that might just be the knife that I can open an envelope with and then immediately stab through a can of beans. To me the "perfect knife" has to carry light in the pocket, be able to do delicate cutting while at the same time be able to withstand "heavy use" if needed.

I find the perfect one in my mailbox quiet frequently, until the next perfect one shows up in my mailbox. This pattern tends to repeat itself.

I hear ya, Mr.Powernoodle!

The Constant (Knife) Lover

Out upon it, I have lov'd
Three whole days together;
And am like to love three more,
If it prove fair weather.

Time shall molt away his wings
Ere he shall discover
In such whole wide world again
Such a constant lover.

But the spite on't is, no praise
Is due at all to me:
Love with me had made no stays
Had it any been but she.

Had it any been but she
And that very face,
There had been at least ere this
A dozen dozen in her place.

Still working on it... :) I am getting closer.... But Ankerson's "perfects" seem to be at least in the same general direction...

I don't know about perfect, but my current favorite is my Bradley Alias II with the black blade. I have carried this knife everyday since I got it.

I think my perfect would be a small sebenza; I sold mine though. If I ever stopped accumulating, I'd settle on a small sebenza annual probably.

I'm just not a one knife person so I am alternating between the large Seb and Mnandi, plus a variety of traditionals (American and European).

Small sebenza but I have to try xm-18 3 inch slicer and demko ad-10 and then pick up my favourite.Small sebbie is gonna be hard to beat though.

You know, for me, it might just be a plain old FRN Spyderco Endura. Adding to the "perfection" is the fact that if lost or broken, $56 get's me a new one. That is at least one way to look at perfect...in my book anyway. Perfect is a pretty difficult thing to attain. Not sure I'd stake a lot on my choice but it's my go to knife. There is much to be said about the Military as well. Lack of tip up carry hurts that one but as a knife designed for soldiers (which the military was) you don't want tip up. You'd want tip down because you are probably not going to carry it in the right pocket the way civilians do. It'll be on the Molle gear somewhere, in a sleave pocket maybe...and you're definely gonna want that tip DOWN carrying like that.

Yes..absolutely. From the overall design, and execution. Fit and finish, attention to detail. Todd Begg's Bodega is perfect

I think most of us will always be searching for something more perfect than what we've got.

This Benchmade Stryker is the closest I've found so far:

For EDC, I thought I found my perfect knife, the Myerchin T377. Then the lock failed after a couple of weeks under stressless conditions. I am getting it replaced, but I am also looking at a Gen 2 model of the same knife that uses a frame lock. Hopes are high, we will see.

Of all my knives the closest that comes to perfection is the SRKW D2 Bog Dog. It is not a camp knife, combat knife, skinner, fishing, bushcraft, utility knife, but just as a knife, I think it is perfect. The only thing wrong is I only bought one.

Closest thing so far, as an edc, is my super convexed (by Nate) Izula. Sharp as hell, perfect size for my job and what I need it for, and I use it with 100% confidence.

On a larger scale, SwampRat's RMD. I've never used anything else like it. The most comfortable handle, perfect blade shape, size and thickness. again I feel totally at ease using it to do anything I need it to.
