Have you ever been surprised to see somebody else carrying a knife?

No. I LOVE IT when someone asks me "do you got a knife?" I say, yes i do. Then comes the next question. "can i borrow it ?" To which i always say NO, you can't. You CAN, however, stop being a sheeple & carry your own small pocket knife, so when you need one, you will have one & not look like a fish out of water. I say, knives are tools NOT weapons. Plenty of people in prison for killing someone with a hammer or baseball bat or crowbar.

Live in a suburb, surrounded by soccer fields, office parks, malls and Whole Foods shopping centers; so no knives anywhere. When I worked in a camping store (in a mall), again no pocket knives carried even though the store had a good selection of SAKs, Kershaw, CRKT, Leatherman. At work one of the IT techs carries a Leatherman. The only surprise was what two friends carry in their purses: one has two dental picks (she is a dentist), the other has a scalpel (she is a doctor). Even in Boy Scouts only a few had knives. The most popular multi tool is a cell phone, so even a toothpick would be a surprise.

Here in Indiana everyone carries a knife of some kind. I remember in my old high school there was a no knife rule, but everyone had one anyway.

This morning I noticed a coworker with a pocket clip - looks like it might be a Spydie Sage of some type. I haven't had the chance to ask him about it, but I was surprised to realize that I was surprised that he was carrying one. :)

Everytime I see someone with a knife in their pocket I try to figure out what kind of knife it is by the look of the clip. For the most part I spot Kershaws and those folding razor knives. I've spotted a couple Spydercos. It doesn't really surprise me, but if I ever ran into someone else with a real high end blade I probably would be.

Don't judge a knife by it's clip.

Once, at a grocery store, I saw a very attractive girl produce a small purple Spyderco from
her pant's pockets and cut some loose threads in her shirt. That was extremely sexy, for some
reason. Too bad I didn't have time to stick around and chat with her.

For future reference- If you ever find yourself in that situation and you "don't have time", you MAKE TIME!
