Have you ever broken a knife?

Prying into metal...

They work much better now with the 're-grind'...lol ;)

I tried to chop a block of wood with one of my knives by banging on the handle butt with a big rock. LOL The handle broke right off and it took three of us to remove the blade from the piece of wood (that still wasn't chopped)

Nowadays I don't bang my knives with big rocks and I spent a little money to buy a small hatchet.

I was expecting to see more endura and delica tips in this thread. Bavck when the Endura was 8a and molded clip, I snapped the tip right off mine doing light wood stuff. It reground easy and looked okay. I continued to carry it for a long time. I used to meet people.........
"Is that a Spyderco?" Yes. "How do you like it"? Pretty cool, but the tip broke off! Lots of them.. But, all seems to have been fixed. I still consider Spyderco to be in the top 1%.

Depends what you consider enough tip to be broken... Took the top 1/8" of tip off my Spydie Ladybug hitting staples in boxes... My dragonfly now has a re-made tip, small tanto... Just remember: needlefine tips ARE NOT made to be screwdrivers. clipped a bit out, and now the tip is only noticable by looking closly.

I've broken a:
-Emerson Commander
-Spyderco Vesuvius
-MOD Ladyhawk
* On all three, none were really broken, but the locks became unusable.

Well, the Commander didn't take a whole lot of use (read: i am not knocking Emersons). I must have gotten a bad one from the factory (second bad one really), used it with normal cutting tasks, some light chopping, etc. The blade starting to wobble and eventually closed with light pressure from the back of the blade. Got it fixed. The MOD started out with a rock solid lock up, but with simple cutting chores like cardboard and the like, it developed a nice wriggle. A wriggle eventually turned into a wobble. This knife sits in my drawer waiting for the day for me to send it back. The Vesuvius isn't really tecnically broken. I am pretty sure that the compression lock would hold a large amount of stress but due to ALOT of verticle wriggle, I wouldn't try it (maybe it needs an eccentric pivot adjustment???). I am going to send this one back when I get the time. I don't really do anything out of the normal as far as cutting goes, I guess I'm just unlucky...  :( :(
