I'm new to the knife addiction. Several days ago I received Esee 4. The quality of the knife is amazing.

So here is my question. Have you managed to brake a knife that looks and feels like it's one tough cookie?

I have an ESEE-4 and I haven't been abusive enough to come close to breaking it. I'm fairly certain I'll never use the warranty.

i've seen them broken, but only because the owner was being stupid or was deliberately trying to break them

here is a picture of the ESEE cabinet at smokey mountain knife works. they have a few broken ones on display

Not in half, but I broke the wire notch tip off of a HEST. I would have to go out of my way to break the ESEE 4, or be seriously abusive or stupid.

Sorry, just gotta throw this out there: Has anyone seen a broken ESEE 5 or Becker BK2 ? They are both 1/4" thick. I would NOT pry with anything less than a 1/4" thick blade, once it breaks you may as well use stones. A small working knife is better than a small broken knife. Know your blades & know thier limitations. You may get a new knife, but only IF/when you get back home. In a true survival situation, your blade may be your lifeline.

Never broke an ESEE but I know that if I did, their warranty is superb. But as TwinStick said, a warranty or new knife means nothing in the middle of nowhere.
