My wife and I were doing a gig tonight [Opening for David Allen Coe] and as I was loading out I stepped on a 119! The rightful owner WAS found but it got me to thinking....Has anyone else just stumbled on a Buck??? Iv'e found 4 or 5 other knives [mostly fishing] but never a Buck..

Found a 309 once, looked out the window at a four way stop, on dirt road, out in the middle of the prairie going pheasant hunting. There in the middle lay the sawcut black 309. Had been squished a little, but I used the custom knife tool called a - bigger screwdriver and sprung the blade well open to just right. Used it as truck knife, still have it.....Didn't do good on birds so it wasn't that lucky.

I guess you could call it finding one. My wife's biological father died in 2004, leaving her his house and a garage full of boxes of stuff. We sold the house and I just hauled all the boxes to a storage shed on my place without looking in lots of them.

A couple of months ago I went through a large wooden footlocker type thing and came across a pretty beat up 112. Looks like the blade tip has been broken off and reshaped. It's pretty sad looking.

I've found 2... one was a vintage 118 personal (70's), handle was sticking out of dead fire ashes... it was in perfect condition. Bought a sheath for it, used it a number of years until I lost it ;(

The second was a small buck lite 442 found in a parking lot near a marina. Since it was open, I think someone left it on a boat and it fell off...

At least you can send it in for a blade replacement, and have Buck spruce it up a little.

I "found" a Buck 110 at my grandfather's cabin in the White Mountains of Arizona when I was about 10 or 11. It was a in pretty good condition, but looked like it had been laying in the drawer for more than a handful of years. It had quite a bit of wobble in the blade, too. I asked if I could have it, and he let me. I do miss that cabin. It was sold back in 2004 because my grandfolks were getting too up there in years to take care of it. The Rodeo Fire also missed it by barely a mile.

I suppose I could send it to Buck, but I just didn't feel it was worth the effort. I have quite a few 112's some users and some specials, so I don't really need it for anything.

I have never been fortunate enough to find a decent knife. I found a cheapo one that I think I'm going to give to my buddy and see if he wants it and he can fix it up and sharpen it and whatnot. I also found a knife I do actually like its "wolf" brand I guess it says that on the handle, then again I never looked at the tang to see if it said anything. *Runs upstairs to check."

Sort of....after my stepfather passed away, we were cleaning out SERIOUS accumulations of tools, gadgets, etc. While in the storage bin near the garage, I came upon a 110 that was THOROUGHLY used and abused.

The blade was locked open with so much crud in the blade pocket you could not close it. He had more than likely used it as a pry bar, snapped the tip of of the blade, and used a bench grinder to crudely re-profile the tip. At one point he must have valued it, as he used one of those electric vibrating engraving tools to put his name and SSN on the bolsters.

I cleaned it, sanded the bolsters to remove his handiwork, and at that time Buck still had some of the BG-42 replacement blades. I sent it in for one, and it became a NICE 110 user.

There must be some sort of thing where some Buck knife people have the sheath upside down.

Twice over the past few years while riding down the road on my Vespa motorscooter, I'll see something in the road that has an unmistakble outline. I pull over and theres a Buck 110 laying there. Clossed of cource. A little scratched up, but good. I take them home and polish up and sharpen, and keep in the kitchen drawer.

When riding a motorcycle or scooter, one is always concious of things laying in the road. Sometimes it s bolt, or it can be a screw that can give you a flat. Sometimes its a niccce Channel Lock pliers or Craftsmen screw driver. I've got a nice Cressent wrench, a needle nose pliers, and two Buck knives to date.

Funny what you see in the road on a Vespa.

Here's the old 112 I found in my wife's Dad's stuff. If I thought I could get a left over "vintage" blade put in it at Buck, I might send it in. I don't know what vintage this is, maybe someone out there can give me a clue.

Well way back when I was a young kid I found a handle for a 121 (if I remember correctly), not having a lot of money and knowing that BUCK knives were held in the highest regards I made a plan to send the knife back for repairs, explaining that the knife broke in no fault of its own and requested they repair the knife and send me a bill. Young kid figuring he would get a good deal on a BUCK! Well what I got back was unbelievable a new knife, with papers and the famous message from Chuck Buck. I then had to have the local sporting goods store order me a sheath which cost more than if I would have just bought a new knife. This experience started my collecting of BUCK KNIVES and still continues what a great company. Thanks!

Found a Buck Prince on the trail a number of years ago when I was hiking. Blade had been re-profiled and had a fair amount of wobble to it. Some one had ridden it hard and put it away wet. It still gets pocket time.

Plumberdv, that 112 looks cool to me just the way it is. I vote keep it in "as found" condition. I've never found any Bucks but have lost a 120, 119 and a 118 over the years, so someone out there has at least 3 more stories to tell.

It looks to me to be a Fourth Version (only 1 variation); about 1973 I think.

The problem is that the point of the blade is now a little exposed. don't know if it shows well enough here or not.

i see it clearly now. Thanks for the pic. I don't know, maybe just file the kick a little and its good to go. Nice 112.

I second TinSue's examination. But also let me add, it is not that bad of shape for that age knife average guy find. It will clean up nice. And there not making any more of that Ebony scale either.........I bet Bucksway would spit and kick the dog if you say you are going to just store it away and forget about it.........................300Bucks

Over the years I have found a few bucks. The best time was when I found five bucks at once...all of these bucks were the green kind and spent well. I have never found a Buck knife...yet:)
