Have you ever found a knife?

Three Swiss Army knives = One on the floor of a police van, one laying in the street, and one in a tool box.
One electricians Barlow in a tool box.
One "Theater Knife" of a mini Bowie style that was in a dumpster.

I have lost a boatload of good knives.

A buddy I worked with found a knife that he just knew was mine. I'm the knife guy. He kept on picking at me and I didn't know what he was talking about. When he finally fessed up about finding "my knife" it wasn't. We searched around and it belonged to the inspector on the job, who was a good dude. I drove an hour to hide it in a ziplock bag on the job, so that he could retrieve it.

Old thread but I'll bite.
I found this fixed in the grass in the back yard when I was younger than a teen. Not sure how old I was. It still has the original "patina". I have a jewelry box full of old really cheap knives like this; most of them my Dad had or found . . . probably while mowing weeds in the alley or that he found in parking lots.

I found this folder in the street and kept it for a lender / beater for at work. I carry it every day in that belt pouch with other tools. I was EDCing a 110 back when I found it; some time in the eighties.

Cool thread!
I found a hatchet in a tree at a camp ground when I was a kid. Ill never forget the feeling of joy that day and I always take walks and search camp grounds now as an adult.
BUT NOW for the fun part! I leave knives at camp grounds now all the time on purpose! Nothing expensive, but good usable knives with plenty of life left in them. I hide them in plane sight...but not easily found by a camp host, off the beaten path just a bit stabbed into a tree or something. It fills me with joy thinking someone will find it like the day I found the hatchet....

Over the years I've lost some and found some but, the most interesting find ever was the bayonet we found in the trunk of my wife's car.

The car was a former rental and she bought it from the local Ford dealer about three or four years before we started dating. She never had a reason to pull out the spare tire but when we finally did.... there it was, a Milpar M6 bayonet, resting quietly under everything. At first, she thought I was playing a practical joke on her but, I assured her that it was not my doing.

When we sold the car, the bayonet was transferred to the trunk of her new ride. I suppose we will do it again when she's ready for something else.

Just ran across another Kershaw that I found. A D.W.O. 3001 lock back folder with the rubber covered handle. Unfortunately, the protrusion on the rear of the blade snapped off, so it won't lock open. They don't fix discontinued models.

The only knife i ever found was a carbon "opinel" underwater while i was spearfishing for octopus (what was that knife doing here ?)
Even if it's a 20$ knife, it done the job.

I found this one some 50 years after I lost it. I found it while tearing out a wall in my mothers basement. Its an Imperial Boy Scout knife from the early 1950s

Was doing construction in a commercial area close to home back in 2000 in the middle of winter. We stopped for lunch, I start walking to the deli. There was still a foot and a half of snow in the areas that weren't shoveled. Something caught my eye sticking out of the snow. Just a small rounded edge of black metal. I walked over to see what it was. Picked it out of the snow. Rekat Hobbit Neck Knife still in the sheath looking brand new...could have been there for days till the snow melted down to it's level lol. Beat the hell out of that knife for the next couple of years. It was with me the whole time I was working down at ground zero in the aftermath of the attack. Used it while patching a leak on top of our conex box in the middle of a rain storm at around 3 in the morning. One of my Union brothers who also happens to be one of my best friends was there with me the whole time and had always loved that neck knife had been trying to buy or trade me for it for awhile. I finally caved after we left the job. I don't usually get too sentimental about things but that blade was with me the through that whole terrible time. I figured if I was ever going to give it up, my brother should be the one that gets it. One of his favorite knives in his collection was an original Benchmade Emerson CQC7 and that's the one I traded for. Like I said I don't get to sentimental about stuff but that one will never leave my collection because of how it got to me. Posted a way more generic version of this story awhile ago in a similar thread, but it's Sunday morning... it's quiet, I'm drinking coffee... it's all calm in the house right now and seeing the thread had me thinking about those 2 knives and the time we spent down there.

Old threads never die, just like the knives you found. They just age.

Wow.
That's different.
Good for you.

Hahaha it sucked up so much water it sank even though it's wood and should float, or they assumed like I would that if they dropped it in the water it would float.
And THE question : were you ever able to open it ? Did the soaking improve it perchance ?

Good one ! ! !
Hey I'm having trouble figuring which knife that is from googling. Any chance there is a photo at the other thread ?

I found this old knife in the garage of an old house we bought years ago. Believe it or not, the knife was in an old tackle box. It's pretty rough around the edges! LOL!

“One of those cool knives with a hole in the blade, like yours”
It was in the tool kit of a used snowmobile he purchased.
He sent me this pic last night!
