Have you ever found a knife?

I finally got a day off and have been searching around on the forum for a good read. I walked outside to put some food out for the dog and look at a piliated woodpecker for a while and saw one of my Delica's on the ground that had slipped out of my shorts. It reminded me of the time I found a Kershaw storm on the roof of a building. I thought about how I loved reading about knives found while working or purchased for a super low price.

Anyone feel like taking a moment to share a story or picture?

Thanks, Troy.

No pictures, but I found a knife. I was too long in the ground. Better left to the earth. Possibly a Case, maybe a small Congress mode? Blades practically crumbled to dust upon excavation. The MOP scales were OK. That's about it.

The knife that got me into knives was found by my roommate freshman year of college. It was a black CRKT M16 Tanto combo-edge, and from there it just took off. I traded a $6 pair of sunglasses for it and I couldn't be happier with that decision :D

One time I was out airsofting with my buddies, and we were standing around chatting between shooting each other. I was playing with a machete I had made the other day, when I accidentally dropped it.

As I bent to pick it up, an orange object caught my eye. I grabbed it and tugged, and out from the dirt came another machete!

I looked up at the guys, smiled, and said "Finders keepers."

I found a Buck 107 in the back of drawer filled with stuff from previous owners of the house. It is in great condition even has the original sheath it came with.

My neighbor found a green-plasic handled Schrade Old-Timer linerlock.
Fat, big, stubby, partially serrated, and on the side of the road.
Nothing for me. :(

The first knife I ever found was a little slip joint. I found it on the playground in second grade. I went to a small country school and everyone carried knives.

I found a Leatherman supertool on a rock, a Kershaw Leek on the sidewalk, a Gerber profile stuck in a tree, and a little Case knife under a bridge which was my first knife.

I found a CRKT KISS in the Utah desert once. I was working for a wilderness therapy program for troubled youth. We were eating lunch in the shade of a big Juniper tree when I saw the knife half-buried in the duff in front of me. Given my company, it was very fortunate that I was the one who found the knife.

I found a really crappy folding dagger at camp when I was 13. It had a black-painted metal handle and a dull single-edged blade with a nail nick (but styled like a dagger). It was so bad. But back then coolest thing ever.

Since then, nothin'.

Found a Queen Cutlery in the parking lot of the Knife Works in Tennessee.
Not sure what model but it's similar to my Case Stockman.

When I was a kid up at "the cabin" with my dad one winter, I found a used but very nice (unrusted) Leatherman in a worn original leather sheath in the snow. I think it was back when there was just one model of Leatherman. The full-sized thing. Anyone know how much those cost cost back then? This was in the early 90's. Also, anyone know what the current equivalent to the "original" is? The Wave?

Oh boy...

S&W 2-blade "tactical" lockback - in a bush at a park. (pretty much my first knife)
Gerber Evo - buried on an Oregon beach, but in like new condition...
Sheffield lockback - near a construction site.
Meyerco lockback - under a tree at a different park.
Corroded Pakistan lockback - where an old dock used to be at a lakeshore.
Leatherman original multi tool - in front of my old school.

I know I'm forgetting some. LOL

Years ago when my oldest brother was in college, he invited me to stay at his apartment around college town. I must've been 8 or 9 years old at the time. I remember walking around outside with him to go somewhere when I spotted this huge folding knife in the bushes. It was a Buck 110. I remember thinking to myself why the knife was in the bushes. I concluded that it must've been a weapon used in some crime, but that was probably my overactive imagination. Then again, that part of town, at the time, was not known to be exactly safe. That was the only time I ever found a knife. Well, saw is a better word. I didn't go anywhere near it.

Found a 1940-64 Case Stockman at work.It had been worn "pocket smooth" on the outside. The sheeps foot blade was allmost ground away from sharpening but the clip and spay blades still had a lot of life in them.It was tight and had no blade play also sharp as a razor.I asked prolly 12-15 people if someone had lost a knife nobody had.The job was out in the country and I think one of the illegal workers might have picked it up working on one of the farms as you could tell someone had carried and used it for decades way before the illegals started showing up.I still have it in my collection

Growing up I was with a friend playing in the local creek near my house, he found a three bladed small serpentine folder, with plastic white handles, I traded a pair of sweatpants to get it. I had it for years as an adult, I cannot remember the make, but I think I gave it to a friend's father since his was lost. It was cool because it was at the time I was really starting to learn about knives as a teenager.
