They will do anything...I was worried about that to at first but you should see the length they went for me..

Good point.

Murman, you've touched on probably the ONLY disadvantage of owning a BUSSE/KIN.

And what a disadvant...it really is a blessing.

It's kinda like being the man who pays the most income tax in the USA....at face value it just seems bad, but it's an embarrassment of riches.

If only all our problems were like having too much value packed into a knife for it's own good, right? ;)

So, I'm not so concerned about losing money...I'd be more concerned with losing a legendary model that I'd have to try to track down...it could take what's left of a lifetime in some cases.

Again, let it sink in....it boggles my mind that we own what amounts to a hand tool that <at least> holds its value with use, and quite often INCREASES in value with abuse. Simply amazing. :)
Something crazy and weird happened to my brand new Custom Shop WTF.. which as you know was listed at like $1300 (from Busse)
Jerry took one look at my pic, said That's NOT supposed to happen, send it in"... a short time later a whole new Custom Shop WTF showed up..NOT the same knife..brand new an done by Garth.
Ya..they will replace it in my experience..

I had a purely cosmetic issue that they fixed up, no questions asked (except what color coating I wanted).

I had an unused FBM that rusted under the coating, causing the coating to flake off. A year or so ago I sent an email asking the shop about the best way to fix it, and Shaley said to send it in and Garth would take a look. Garth stripped it and cleaned it, but the tan coating they were using when I bought it in 2006 wasn't available anymore, so I got my choice of the current colors. Now I have what is probably the only Snakeskin and Desert Sage FBM out there.

Holy cow...rusted under the coating:confused:....do you live under water?
Or was it the salty tears of joy shed upon its glorious arrival??

Imho the biggest concern is replacement if it comes to that. Tglb is worth $337 and I doubt they have any way to give you a new one, so if you are going to abuse a knife beyond repair best to choose something that's only worth what you paid. While the warranty is awesome it would suck to pay $750 for a knife and loose over $400.

Why would they not have a way to get you a new one? Maybe not in the moment if they don't have the right piece of steel on hand, maybe they wouldn't hand reproduce older models they don't have current machine programs for (understandable), but they have the factory; they can make whatever they want.

ETA: Yes I have called on their warranty service for an issue that was not at all the knife's fault and they replaced my blade without hesitation.

IIRC it was a broken skeleton key they didn't have blanks or machining for. I'm at work hard to research. Someone was upset that they baton a skeleton key and only got $95 back when market value was $200 on the exchange. My memory may be faulty.

The only problem I've ever had with a Busse from the shop, is someone at the shop was drunk and put the wrong handle color on my CS order.
Lexi not only credited me the cost of the G10 handles, but put a note in my account so the shop will swap the handles for the right color if I decide to send it in.

Take THAT other warranties!!! :D -- :thumbsup::thumbsup:

What you was thinking of was an ergo natural outlaw they could not find a blank for.

Sorry for the delay guys. If you double check, I believe you will see where we received the knife in late September. So, although broken 6 months ago, I believe we have had it for far less than that. Either way, we have been digging for a blank with no luck. We will be issuing a shop credit for the broken blade. We have never not honored our warranty. ... Never!...even when some blades were intentionally destroyed.

As for the Ergo Natural Outlaw in question. I will try to give a comprehensive explanation to the cause of the break within the next few days.

We have sold tens of thousands of INFI blades since their introduction..... How cool is it that news of a break is so unusual and so noteworthy? ....... Killer cool !!!

All is well. . . . All is cool. . . . And best of all. . . . All is warranted!

Let's drink!

So in summary from my research there's been at least once where they had to issue a shop credit instead of replacement. Busse has NEVER failed to offer warranty satisfaction.

On top of that the CEO of the company personally reaches out to customers on these issues. While also handling all design and running the company. And fulfilling many military contracts. And numerous stuff I don't know about.

If you can find any company in any business this size doing customer service better send me a pm.

I wouldn’t worry about how old it is. If Jerry made it. He can make it again if the warranty warrants it.

Had one issue that I sent a blade back, it came back and was, let’s say, not up to par. I emailed and talked to Jerry about it and he promptly replied and made sure I was taken care of and completely satisfied! I have no complaints at all

It is a bit humid 'round these parts. The same thing happened with an unused Mud Razor (also made around 2006) where the coating flaked off the spine. I think on that one I'll probably send it off to AZTimT for a Stripetition Finish.

Once, and your poll doesn't really have an option for what happened. https://www.bladeforums.com/threads/warranty-epicness.1531982/

The tl;dr version is that in my experience, Busse will step up and address major damage. However, one should not assume that necessarily means geting back a knife identical to what one had before it was damaged. Per Jerry's clearly stated "If the customer is not happy. . . Send it in. . . . Please.", I suppose I could send it back again. But someone clearly put a lot of work into regrinding my NMSFNO, and it has some sentimental value to me...I've been trying to find a way to like the reshaped/rebalanced regrind.

Never had and issue and I'm a heavy user :D. Only real damage I've had was knock the handles off center by bending the rivets.

Do they do service on knives owned by other than original owner? I never heard back from them on a knife, but I think it was lack of follow through on my part.

Ya..they will replace it in my experience..

Yeh Rob, I have 100% faith they'd replace it...
if they could...but I was referring to more legendary serialized blades that they may have not held back any for warranty work or even a one of a kind PIMP ;):p...
Maybe even some other models that they don't have CNC code for anymore.
But heck, what do I know?...I don't make Busse's, I just spend my rent money on em

The warranty is for the life of the knife, not owner. From my understanding of it.

Yeah, I think I decided it would not have been worth sending in it was such an easy fix. And it was busy season so I didn’t expect them to chase me for service!
