last week i was at red lobster eating and minding my own business when i noticed the host was carring a benchmade afck. now at first this seemed strange to me cause i guess
i just never noticed it before. but since then ive paid more attention. ive found people carring cheap 5.00 knives all the way up to high end customs. all of which are working in the world around us. i ran into a
young man the other day with a pocket clip on his pocket upon asking what he was carring he informed me it was a very exspensive benchmade swithchblade that i couldnt even afford to look at. laughing
about this for a good while now i decided that maybe i should ask all of you if you had any such exsperiance in this. by the way we were in a shoe store in a mall. what a strange place to just happen to see a benchmade mini reflex hanging on a 16 year olds pocket. basically im just wondering if any of you look around at a restarant or whatever and notice knives on people that you may not have even thought about carring a knife?

I've noticed lots of clips on people's pockets around here. But we are north of Atlanta in the country with lots of horses, cows, etc. It is not unusual for someone to carry several knives for different uses.

Don't want to peal an apple with the same knife you just used to un-bull a bull!

The host in my favorite Mexican restaurant carries a knife clipped to his pocket. Damn, now I'm hungry.

At the store where I teach Inline skating, one of the salespeople saw the clip in my pocket and asked if it was a Benchmade. I showed him the 710 and he showed me his AFCK. I was very surprised.

I've seen a few at work, and one or two at church. I still haven't asked about them. They usually only have one knife and I don't want to scare them by whipping out 5 different blades to compare against there one.

Hi Mark,

Nearly everyone around here carries some kind of knife with them. I usually have my Halo 2 on my belt and when people ask me what it is I'll show it to them and they'll usually show me whatever knives they happen to be carrying... either that, or they scream and run away.

As a LEO as well as a knife addict, maybe I notice more than the average guy, but around here it seems as if EVERYONE has a knife hung on a pocket or in a belt pouch.Occasionally you even see a sheath knife hanging from a belt. I guess that it is enough of a part of our southern heritage that no one thinks too much about it, as long as the bearer isn't committing some antisocial act. While we are considered "backward" by some snobs,we do enjoy some benefits!

I live in West Virginia, The only state entirely in te Appalachin mt. range. If you live here and have a y chromasone You must carry a blade. if you have a double x chromasone then blade carry is optional, but apreciated, if you are a visitor, then we will try to sell you one of our fine hand made blades for use while you are in our state. We have no sheeple, the only sheep round here eat grass make wool and tast good in curry.

If you "noticed lately" that people are carrying knives - it means you have been living in condition white for too long

Go to condition yellow - and be aware of
your surroundings.

If I see someone carrying a knife on his person and I don’t like the looks of him - I have yet another reason to keep my distance and the 21-foot rule.

Any tactical device left unnoticed is a surprise and a possible advantage over your opponent...

With Benchmade and Kershaw nearby I see a ton of knives clipped into pockets, I think they are standard issue when you buy a flannel shirt or denim jeans in Portland

. Rarely surprised by what someone is carrying, it is surprising when someone actually asks what I have clipped in my pocket and why. I'm going to look even closer in the future.

Since I started carrying on a regular basis years ago, I've noticed clips on pockets and pouches on belts. And unlike some others of a more sheep-like persuasion, I learned early the difference between a knife clip and a pager clip.

Gives me warm fuzzies, like belonging to an elite "fraternity".

I actually like to make a game out of guessing what people are carrying. Many production folders are relatively easy to spot. It's a great way to start a conversation, too. I was in a local gun shop, and I saw a what I was certain was a Spydie Military clipped to his pocket, so I walked up and asked the guy how he liked his Spydie. It turned out to be a great conversation!

well here in ohio i dont seem to notice as many people with knives clipped to there pockets. now its a given the old gentlemen have there case knives or schrade in there pocket but as far as tactical type carry we just dont see it much..........now while we are at the shows and so forth you do see them there. but no one is walking around with fixed blades on there side nor do you see that many pocket clips hanging either. now around here the mechanics seem to getting into pocket clipped knives a good bit but thats all stuff coming off the snap on truck. very exspensive kershaws generally
and when i say exspensive i mean snap on demands the fullest of full retail out of there kershaw knives. but im seeing by the people speaking up here ohio must be one of the only areas that most people are still in the dark ages as far as carry options.

In Charlotte, NC, sheeple rule the city. I'm sure it's better in other parts of the state (Boone, sweet Boone!). I almost NEVER see knife clips. I do OCCASIONALLY on LEO's, but even they number fewer than one would hope. Of course, there is the chance that one might not have it clipped, but keep it completely tucked in their pocket. I'm sure that there are those that have smaller knives, such as SAK's in their pockets, but you can't see them. Then there are the larger knives, kept in sheaths. I see these every once in a while, but not as often as I'd like to. The sheaths contain large, wooden-handled lockbacks, and sometimes multitools, but never fixed blades. I've never seen a fixed blade being carried in the city that I can think of. Then there's me. I even bring a small pen blade (itty bitty) to school when more formal attire is appropriate, field trips wearing a blazer for instance. In such cases, the knife stays in one of the jacket's pockets. I never carry one in school otherwise, as the zero-tolerance found in many schools here can't TOUCH my new principal's attitude. He used to run a middle school, and treats us as if we're little kids. OK, maybe the freshman deserve it, but come on...

Another not so lone voice from over the Pond. With our knife laws we all have to be very careful with what we carry and what is seen.
Mostly I notice the shape of a folder in a jeans pocket or the sort of attitude that suggests some young tough might be carrying something else but otherwise I only see knives when they are produced! Pocket clips are almost always for pagers.
Anything I carry stays hidden.
