Have you ever looked around the room and noticed other people carring knives ?

Hi Folks!

"A man without a kife
you can´t call a man"

my grandpa said, as he gave me my first knife at my 10th birthday.

From this point of view, I see less real men around me. I´m often ask to give support with my knife because people around me know that outside bed and shower I´m always accompanied by a knife.

But it´s iron rule not to give my knive out of my hand.

Keep your edges sharp and the blades clean!

I saw a leo the other day pulling securtity at the place where my wife works, nice guy but he was definately not comfortable about talking about knives even though he had a sw poking out of his back pocket, oh well i invited him online to look at the forum, but i doubt he'll come, sai la vi

thats pretty bad when a security guard carries a knife but feels uncomfortable about talking or dealing with another person about knives in general. some people are that way however.

Hey Ohoison, i'm no french major, but the phrase is "C'est la vie". Not to be picky, just trin to help.

In my scout troop everyone carries a multitool or sak. On adult leader has a spyderco Wegner that he takes hunting and on campouts, but other than that, not too much. Well, okay, i took my CS catalog to camp this summer and now a couple of other guys have Voyagers (one a four inch clip and the other a four inch El Hombre).

Unfortunately, most kids get stuck with crappy Pakistani folders or SWAT knives.

As for the southwest, i visited Philmont scout Ranch in New Mexico, and nine out of ten staffers carried either BM Ascents or Spyderco variants.

I see very few unfortunately, and I make it a point to try to notice. I even tried carrying my small Sebenza inside my new Gary Graley sheath, on my belt, to work to see if anybody would notice. They did, 2 in just a matter of a few minutes. I then went back to my desk and took it off. Now I just drop it in my pocket, w/o clip, and hope I don't inadvertantly drop my keys in the same pocket as the Sebenza.

you mentioned that the people at work noticed your knife so you went back to your desk and took it off. why?
were they affraid of it?
was it that menacing.
or did you show millicious use or thoughts with it. i dont understand why there would be any reason to take it off if theres no laws against it in the first place. exsplain to them it is a tool not a weapon it may shed some light on things.

Just recently, I've been noticing more and more clips in pockets. I think this is due to the rising popularity of this genre of folder among everyday type people. Not sheeple, mind you, just people with good enough sense to recognize a good thing when they see it.
My wife and I were sitting in a local coffee house a couple of months ago when I noticed our waitress had a knife clipped to her jeans pocket. I asked what she was carrying and she pulled out a S&W Auto and deployed it. Startled me a little as I wasn't expecting it to open so fast, so close to my face. She said her boyfriend gave it to her as she often opened the shop in the morning and/or closed it at night. I showed her my Carnivour and Axis and we had a pleasant little conversation about knives while Sue and I drank our Cappacinos. Wish I could get my wife interested in knives. It would sure make my life easier.

If it's stupid but works, then it isn't stupid!

First time I really noticed was when I was up in Helen, GA (cheesey tourist trap fashioned after an Alpine village). Shifty looking bastard had something that looked like a Hibben/United Cutlery knock-off strapped to his belt. I guess it was legal because the knife/sheath was in plan view and he was parading around in front of the local police without any harrassment.

Seen a few clips here and there in the north Metro Atlanta burbs. In fact, I had to smile today... Went into a pet shop to check out the reef tanks when I spotted one of the employees with a Spyderco clipped to her pocket. She was probably just a highschool girl. Good to see 'em starting young and have such good taste in cutlery. :-)

It must be the company that I keep. I almost never see a knife on someone else. I get lonely sometimes.

I am living in the most beautiful part of Germany (at the lake of Constance) but its also the most boring part sometimes.
I have never noticed anybody carrying a knife.

Of course you see some trouble-makers occasionally (in my hometown lots of them) and you can be sure, that they carry some junk-knife hidden somewhere in a pocket.
Mostly cheap italian-style switch-blades, butterflies a.s.o.

No other serious knifenut around except me and my cousin.

Mark,
That's a very good question! I don't know why I took it off, except for the fact I just don't like unwanted attention. I am a cubicle dwelling office employee, and really don't have much legitimate use for a knife at work.
As far as using a knife foolishly or maliciously, that has never happened, and I always try to explain to people that knives are tools and not weapons.
I may try it again however, as I do really like the sheath.

I've seen quite a few people caring knives around my area. Mainly BM, Spyderco, Cold Steel and the like. The most by far are folders. I also notice numerous concealed pistols "printing" under peoples cloths in these parts. I live around the Harrisburg, PA region and PA is a "shall issue" state. I also notice a lot of knives when I go down I81 into WV and VA. Don't notice that many knives in MD though besides friends and family. From Hagerstown to the DC suburbs to Southern MD, it's relatively clipless. Though down in the Calvert/St. Mary's county area clips start appearing again. It's interesting to see the big differences in attitude over such a small geographic area.

Just the other day I saw a clip, and it took me a few minutes to remember what type of knife he was carrying. A William Henry.

if i was you i'd get that knife out again and carry it if someone says anything explain why. if your comfortable having it on people around you should be comfortable that you have it. i get alot of odd looks for carring a gun around alot. hey in my state if you carry large sums of money or your life has been threatened then you are by law aloud to carry a gun for those purpose's. when i leave a show at times i carry alot of money. i may end up carring alot of money the whole weekend if im away from town the whole time. so i want to be able to defend that very money in the even that theres a problem. so i carry it. and if someone asks i tell them why i carry it. these things go hand in hand........a knife is carried for what ever reason you feel comfortable with........as long as your doing nothing wrong and are not breaking any laws by doing so then by all means carry it if you want too. just my views on that sorry to ramble on.
