I think i may be the next victim.

been expecting a package through USPS Priority and its been stuck in Oregon for 3 days. Called the USPS and they cant tell you $hit!

My first G.E.C. UNXLD and even bought a 12 pack of Sam Adams to celebrate.

any horror stories you may want to share feel free.

I have, but mostly because of international and what I can only assume are customs reasons.

Girlfriend in Poland sent me some Polish oatmeal... I got the package from her but no oatmeal inside. Whoever would want to confiscate oatmeal, I do not know. Possibly some safety concern about it being poisoned, I can't even begin to guess.

Sent her some tshirts once, they never got there either. :/ Mostly it works out, sometimes it doesn't.

Nothing like the value of a GEC though, so I hope it works out. Sometimes my stuff does get "stuck" for a few days and then moves, so I wouldn't lose hope yet. Our postal system, while efficient and great, is also baffling to me. Packages criss-cross the country at weird, seemingly illogical angles before they wind up at my door, often going the complete opposite direction for awhile.

USPS messed up two shipments to me. One was a $200 tomahawk. The only reason I received them was that the individuals who got them by mistake brought them to my house!

The packages were addressed correctly in both cases. Fortunately, these are the only times out of numerous opportunities that they failed. If the recipients had not been honest, I guess I would have been sol. Consider yourself lucky that your order is just stuck.

A bayley s4 , all went wrong in Germany then royal fail didn't pay out over the words camp knife on post slip and survival knife on invoice ! . Did have a blade held up in the US customs until I gave them a break down of RWL34 and why I used it to make the knife ? UK to USA is hard work post wise , is it the same for you guys ?

Jus last month I had a package disappear, signature confirmation that was never signed for and the USPS carrier claimed he handed it to me. He also though I worked in a hospital and had two large dogs, so he obviously mis-delivered it.

I would file a claim not delivered and get them to pay for it. I make the person sign for it and that way there
is no questions if they got it or not.

Last knife I ordered wasn't there when the U.S.P.S. tracking notice said it had been delivered (mid-morning).

I found the mail lady still in my neighborhood and asked her if it was on her truck still and she said no, nothing for me today.

I called the Postmaster mid-afternoon and reported the problem, contacted the seller, etc.

Suddenly at 7.00 that evening the package is on my doorstep. I re-contacted the seller, who had initiated a claim with them and they had to go through the process of calling that off. Bit of a hassle.

I suspect it was originally left at the wrong house and either my discussion with the mail lady or the call to the Postmaster prompted someone to action that otherwise may not have been taken.

That said, however, my experience with U.S.P.S. historically has been very good. Even in this instance I got quick results once the situation was reported--even a follow up call from the Postmaster the next day. Not sure things would have been so quick and efficient with a private carrier. A lot of real horror stories out there but I've never experienced a MAJOR problem with U.S.P.S. I still prefer their priority mail when it's an option.

I've shipped 100's of knives all over the world via USPS First Class. I ever lost only one knife, in Denver. They found the envelope and shipping label, but not the knife.

I use USPS A LOT! Both as shipper, and receiver. Fortunately, the problems are few and far between. Though I have had priority packages track back to some strange places (7 days in NM is a recent one that comes to mind. It was shipped from MI, and I'm in WV. But somehow a two-day priority package had a 7 day vacation in the southwest. Go figure. I did eventually get it though). Actual "lost" packages; rare, but it has happened.

Have shipped and received hundreds of packages, the large majority of which were via USPS, and generally avoided any major issues. I see USPS get trashed here often but two day delivery with tracking and $50 insurance for less than $6 is just fantastic. Recently a buyer provided me his shipping address with the wrong zip code. It took an extra week beyond the expected delivery date, but USPS sorted out the error themselves and made the delivery. Also had a first class international package I sent to Ireland assumed lost but showed up at the buyer's door after about 7 weeks in transit. Lengthy delivery times for first class international is common but not going to complain considering how inexpensive it is.

Sending domestically, I will insure or add signature confirmation to anything of higher value. I could technically get away with basic tracking since PP increased the requirement for signature to $750. But for $3 to $6 extra, it is worth the peace of mind for both the buyer and myself. Pair that with extra care taping up and securing the package, you minimize likelihood of running into any issues.

When I was a kid, my parents would give Christmas presents to the mailmen every year. For the cost of some holiday cards and small gifts we got the friendliest service. Not a bad idea if you get a lot of expensive packages.

I've shipped all over the world and USPS lost 1 Package once. It was shipped 18 miles the shortest distance out of a 1000 packages shipped all over the world. I lived in Redmond Wa, sold a P7M8 Holster on eBay to a guy in the Philippines and shipped it to his sister in Ballard Wa. It was worth the $9 not to drive through Seattle during rush hour.

It was shipped Priority Mail Insured etc. It was recorded leaving the Post Office and never returning but not Delivered. It was a fast Insurance claim paid in full.

I've had minor paperwork issues when using FedEx or DHL (the latter being much better to work with) and LOTS of problems with the Argentine post. Boxes arriving empty or filled with stones, delays, mistakes at customs, post and customs employees asking for bribes to help speed things along, etc. I filed a lot of complaints and nothing came out of it. Nowadays I don't use the Argentine postal service any more, I send stuff to friends and family abroad who are about to visit Argentina and they bring it.

USPS and UK's Royal Mail have worked fine for me so far.

I have not lost a package with the USPS, although they do know how to stress me out on occassions. I have had domestic packages lost for over a week without tracking or update, it had been "out for delivery" and never arrived. Then I received a note from the shipper that the package had been returned to them for an additional $1.25 in postage, then it disappears again without tracking and shows up at my door 2-3 days later. Just last week I had another package marked "delivered", which also failed to show up; nor, was there anything at the local post office in the morning. Yet, it was delivered that afternoon...according to my regular postman, the guy who was filling in the day before had marked it "delivered" and tossed the package among a bin of new inbound parcels. It wasn't until they had sorted that out, that they had found it again.

So hang in there, the USPS is a bureaucracy that only a bloated government can appreciate.

I have had two shipments go missing. Recovered the insurance on both too :) Save your slips and the receipts until everything is done. If a buyer sends you a money order either make a copy or record every bit of info on it for proof of payment/value purposes. Be prepared to wait the full 30 days before the PO will investigate and then another 60 till they make a judgement. They will more than likely try to deny but keep on them.

I personally haven't lost anything in the mail but USPS certainly has :). Stuff has only gone missing once it has left the US. Just did my first transaction with a Canadian forum member and it went smoothly, he said he would assume all risk and I had bought from him before so I blew off my own US only sales policy. It worked out but it made me nervous. I had one knife I bought from a guy here in the US go to Puerto Rico for some dumb reason. I thought we would never see it again but I guess it just made a wrong turn because it eventually did show up. Sometimes USPS can't get out of their own way. Don't get me started on my local Mail carrier....

I bought some knives from an Italian maker that never made it. They used 2 boxes for the shipment but only one arrived. I always thought the maker was part of the problem but I couldn't prove anything.

I donated and sent a dozen Buck 110's to a small Group at The Campbell Barracks in Germany, July,2013. They closed the Base in Sept and the knives had not made it yet. I've heard nothing about them since. I did manage to locate an Officer at a Base Housing Village in Heidlelberg so the Men got their knives the second time.

Otherwise I have had no problems but I try not to ship outside the CONUS.

well, tracking says its still stuck in Oregon with no movement in several days. Im sure that the retailer i bought it from had insurance on it. but i really wanted to receive it by Friday. The UNXLD i bought i set as my background.

im sure things will work out but im sure that everyone knows when they buy a new knife they want it right then. but alas you have to wait.like a kid at Christmas i guess. I was going to order another UNXLD today but im gun shy now. although i have been shipping and buying knives for many years and this is the real first thing thats happened. I guess ill go ahead and order the new Case XX pacific blue copperlock ive been wanting to add to my Copperlock collection. Not from Oregon. ( i looked at the google reviews for thier post office and it sucks)
