Have you ever modded a long machete?

Here's what the edge currently looks like:

Good, but could be a lot better.
Grind all the way up the bevel and blend in the shoulder. Keep the edge thin.

The 12" Ontario will outchop every 10" knife I own. A good swing will melt through a 2" sapling and it often bites deep in wood as the blade is wide.

WOW, $500 list for the BenchMade ??? What will it do that a $50 SP-8, OKC Spec Plus Machete will not do ? Same style, 1/4" thick, 15 1/8" long.

fwiw the ontario isn't tapered and seems rather bulky. Any of the Latin american or south american brands have a distal taper that works better.
