Hey, i was just curious if anyone of the forum has any stories of how they saved either their own life or someone else's with a knife.

Sort of. I think.

Caught a muskie once that had been caught before. Muskie like to roll and twist when they jump, and this guy had obviously done so. He had fishing line wrapped around him - tight - just behind his gill plates. We brought him up in a cradle, removed my lure, and I cut away the partially imbedded monofilament before letting him go. Like to think he survived...

There was the time when I was driving my Lamborghini Aventador, with Scarlett Johansson riding shotgun, and these space alien ninja spies were shooting at us...and I took one 50 caliber round to the left bicep and another to the left rear tire, and the car crashed into a river! The Amazon River!

So I used my knife to cut off her seatbelt. It was a titanium D/A OTF that Bill Scagel made for me. And gave her underwater mouth to mouth resuscitation. Saved her life!

No.... my friend might have possibly.

He was driving on the highway and came across a vehicle that had crashed and flipped into a ditch right before he got around the corner. There was lots of smoke pouring out of the car and he ran up to the vehicle and there was a woman trapped inside. He ran back to his car to get a knife quickly so he could cut the seat belt because she was in a very awkward position. It took him quite a bit of effort to cut the seatbelt but eventually he got her out of there and called 911. He got some type of award from the Mayor of my city 5-6 years ago.

I think one of the most satisfying things to do with your knife would be to cut a seatbelt to save someones life.... especially if it was serrated because he said the seatbelt was a bitch to cut with his old dull swiss army knife.

Hey a real story, thank you!
I think marcinek's story is truly amazing. It's a good thing he was carrying his knife!

There was this other time I was so hungry I thought I was gonna die! So I cut a hunk of cheese and a hunk of salami and ate 'em. Lived to tell the tale!

You had me going until you said you owned a Scagel knife. That's a little hard to believe.

I did own one! He gave it to me when I saved his life. See, me, Bill, and Bo Randall had gone fishing. Caught a 48 inch muskie! And when we got to shore, Bill was charged by an angry moose. So I took out my Fairbairn-Sykes dagger and got the moose in its subclavian artery. The mighty beast lost consciousness in about 3 or 4 seconds. Then we butchered the moose, and gave to meat to starving people in Africa. Saved them too.

When I was a firefighter, I used my Griptilian to cut a guy out of his seat belt....granted there were several people helping with the extrication, Paramedics...so on and so forth. Can't say that I saved his life. But we did.
