Have you found that perfect traditional pair?

The Soldier has been in the pocket for over 4 years now, paired with different buddies. It's a great edc on it's own. After getting the Bullnose, it's a really great pair for me. Loving the green micarta, and the O1 is great (my first O1 blade). I also have a 58mm Vic Rambler on the keychain. Great little multi-use knife.

manowar, that's a great duo! That did come to mind as I did carry my Canvas Bull Nose for a few weeks when it first arrived. I paired it with my Barlow and liked it. The Bull Nose is great in hand!

Nice to see the appreciation for SAK utility here. I'm currently working a Buck stockman or my BM/H-D 'canoe' for the extra blade versatility, coupled with the SAK-du-jour. MOst often, there will be some sort of non-trad along for the ride to, at least until I get parked at the office.

Gosh this pair would be hard to beat for my needs... Both packing two blades. Both a perfect match to boot :)

If I had to narrow it down to two it would be my Outlaw with Opinel 1890.

After much mind numbing thought of course.

Great thread Jeff.

I'll post more of my favorite pairings tomorrow, however, for the past several weeks it's been these two (new appreciation for the peanut). Will be having a Charlow coming soon, so I am lining up a blade love connection with another of my smalls, as I will typically pair a front pocket knife with a watch pocket. Oh....did I say.....I really like this thread. Looking forward to a lot more pairings.

Great looking duo Peter.

For me it's always two traditional pocket knives. One in RF Pocket and the smaller in the Watch pocket. Casual guy here, so it's always jeans or utility/cargo pants.

These two ride together a lot of days

I would say between them they get about equal use, the little 25 is a very handy lil' cutter, the EO makes it great for when the hands are wet, and the sheepsfoot blade is a very efficient slicer of cardboard and plastics. I use the clip on the powderhorn for most general purpose cutting, but the pen sees very little use. Versatility of a stockman, but to me a more comfortable way to carry those three blades. 25 rides in the watch pocket more days than not :)

Paul,
Love the Bullnose. Paired with a SAK, it's tough to beat. I haven't used a Barlow, and I think it would be a little redundant with a Bullnose in hand. The very best duo I've used for years is a 93mm Alox SAK (Soldier, Pioneer, whatever) and a 58mm SAK with the keys. Everything you need. Just a little "industrial", no personal "flair". That's where the Bullnose shines for me, but any personal favorite knife will do, and add a traditional pattern SAK for utility. Tough to beat, impress your friends, and never, ever, drink cheap liquor.

I do have to say that the Bullnose is the best feeling knife in-hand that I've used in 40 years, and GEC makes the best example of the Sodbuster/working farm knife.

The boys knife is a constant, paired with either the 73 or the Tribal Spear. The Lannys Clip comes out of the zippered case from time to time.

About as perfect as I can get...

I very seldom carry more than one pocket knife, on the odd occasion I carry two it'll more than likely be because I've a particular fixed blade with me like this

Back up the truck, when'd you add that little green beauty? N o i c e.

As posted previously, my perfect traditional pair goes something like this:

Not exactly what you're describing, but I usually do carry (at least) two knives with me every day.

My Daily Pair almost always consists of one knife from Pile A...

... and one knife from Pile B:

(No knives were dropped, dinged, allowed to slide into one another, or otherwise harmed in the posing of "Pile B." ;))

Time to update Pile B....

I love that Post, Sarah!! Not just because the Barlow is in pile A, but also because that Pile B looks so cool! Not a bad knife in the lot (that I can see!:D)

And then there is backing up the truck!:):):)

Sarah that's one of the funniest posts I've seen yet - I love it!! LOL

I'm much the same way. I have ONE that i'm VERY devoted to, usually for a considerable time... Then there's the others that rotate as the "#2". I have two GEC's that duke it out for positioning as The One - my #55 spearpoint and my TC Barlow single spear in AB. These two knives just FIT me so perfectly. It's a rare day indeed that one of those two is not with me. The others (about 10 others I own) rotate as #2 depending on my mood each day.

Today I went solo with just the SAK Cadet. Wasn't a mistake, I intentionally left the Case STJ at home today.

Pile B could make up some incredible combinations itself. I wish I would have picked up one of those BHK's on top when I had a chance working at an outdoors show last summer. Didn't think it was a good idea to buy knives while on the job
