Hi John,

Well, we were wrong too... first thing I did after seeing that was get my wife to look at it. "Well he's a jeweler."

Beautiful work of art there. Can't wait to see your next one :)

This is the line in his original post that gets me, lol!

The blade is a piece of Damascus bar that I ground into the dagger shape, and I have to admit that’s a job I don’t really want to do again as it wasn't anywhere as easy as it looked.

The guy's a sculpture and he hates the menial work!!!!! If only I were that good!!!!

JT,

Just do what Bruce Bump does and combine the knives with rifles!!! Take a look at some of his work. With this being your first, I know you could turn out some real fantastic art pieces!!!

Yeah, that really is funny, and I can't believe I really said it on a forum of knife makers, I don't know how to use the little smilie things, but stick the embarrassment one here,,,,,, but that blade was a real Pain in the rear!
Besides a dagger fitting what I wanted to do, I thought it would be easy,, after all, it's only straight lines down the center with some sloping sides, Well, the bar started off 1/4" thick and 1 1/4" wide,,, and ended up 1/8" thick and 3/4" wide before I got it just good enough! Any more grinding and I would have made a letter opener instead of a knife!
I guess I need to buy a real belt grinder instead of the cheapo Sears thing I used.
Then to top it off, I think I've caught an addiction, because I'm sitting here at work on the ship and instead of working, I'm sketching designs for another knife! Oh lordy help me!

Dude, welcome to the addiction, now that you've admitted you have a problem there's nothing to do but accept that you will always have the problem .. .. .. and make your next knife!

I want to see that knife in person!

Many thanks Bruce,
But looking through the beautiful ones you've made reminds me of just how much I've yet to learn.
I really love the matchlock! Thats fantastic, and must have been a lot of fun to build!
Best Regards, John

PS, Page, yes, acceptance is half the battle, and the other half is just to forge on,,,,, but, well, I don't have a forge, so I'll just grind on!

John,You need to get together with Mr. Bump....Bet you two could talk for hours on the workings of the pistol folders. You know he makes all the parts by himself on those...

Bruce
