I'm thinking of picking up a Spectra, but I'm ignorant when it comes to CKF. Are they a solid company to deal with?

I bought twice through FRWK (didn't order any knives through their website), and bought two of their knives. Everything went smooth. Both knives came without any issues (Morrf-5 and Kwaiback), the order from russia took a little while (about a month each) which is more due to Russian Post, which is kind of a crapshow (Very long lines at times, slow service, packages can sometimes sit around for a few days, actual transit time is really quick compared to the customs waiting periods). But they ship essentially the same or the next day at the latest, so nothing to do with CKF. They are quite communicative (Email/IG my experience) so all in all a very solid company in my book.

I have two CKF knives, both picked up from original owner.
They are both great knives, excellent fit and finish, solid knives and actions.

My favorite is my Morrf. Get one. I am thinking about that Spectra as well. If only I wasn't chasing a Goblin right now. If not for that I would definitely get a Spectra. Ugh.

They are designed by Russians and made in China by a factory heavily into counterfeits or clones.

The knives themselves are excellent and I've heard good things about customer service. That's not to say they don't have any negative stories. I just don't hear to many.

I have ordered a knife direct from CKF's retail arm From Russia With Knives. Was very good experience.

I was on the fence about a purchase and left my knife in the cart for a while. They reached out to me and gave me a deal I couldn't refuse.

Knife came perfect. Included with the knife was a pouch, extra clip, pivot, backspacer, bearings, and hardware. Oh and a cloth + chocolate!

Their knives are made with very high standards and attention to detail. Cant say enough good things.

They also gave me a lifetime % off of all future purchases. I sincerely wish there were more retail outfits like them. Buy confidently.

I have two, cant remember the model #'s. Some of the slickest, smoothest actions. The grind on my first one was a little thick at the edge but m390 steel is super sweet (at least my one model).

That is slightly creepy :D like "Oh we have been watching your cart for a while...boy do we have a deal"
Cool service. And I echo the notion that the inclusion of spare parts is great.
I am curious how they treat out of warranty customers. Anybody know any stories there?

Honestly I think that it was automated but nevertheless it was an awesome deal.

I'm also curious of how they handle warranty service period. I have heard nothing on that front.

I just left a knife in my cart based on this statement alone. Darn you, now we will all be doing it!

Ive heard this, but also heard they used to all be made in Russia then outsourced, also heard the parts are made in China then assembled in Russia.

Any evidence?

They are transparent about this. As long as the end product is good, it's good enough for them. And tbo every ckf I've tried is excellent and I assume they will help if you have any issues.

But yea, kevin john makes them. It's not a secret.

Yes both of mine, decepticon 3 and sukhoi 2.0 are great

Wasnt fully aware they were done by Kevin John

Thanks

Parts are milled in China. The knives are finished in Russia. They are fantastic quality, built in small batches, and of impressive designs by talented designers. Their custom embellished models are out of this world.

Love their knives. They love their knives too and stand behind them, which says a lot.

I purchased a Trekoza, used. The pivot was twisted off poorly by the previous owner(s) and the slot was stripped a bit. When I purchased a set of CF scales for the Trek off FRWK I sent them a message asking to purchase a replacement pivot as well. A few days later I had scales and a new Trekoza pivot for my knife in hand from Moscow. I paid for the scales but received the pivot at no charge.

Good people when communicating through FRWK or in person at Blade.

I've bought two (Morrf 5 and Kadat). I returned the Kadat because it was just too big for my taste. It was as easy as sending to their agent in Illinois and getting a refund on my cc within 24 hours of his receipt. They're very easy to deal with and very accommodating. I wouldn't hesitate to buy from them again.
