Depending on how many blades you grind at one time, having extra clamps keeps you from changing belts so many times and keeps you from changing grinding angles on the Bubble Jig . A friend of mine in Ohio has 6 clamps because he grinds sets of steak knives. He places all the blades he is going to grind in the clamps. He sets the first grinding angle in the Bubble Jig and grinds all 6 blades. He then changes the belt to the next grit, changes the grinding angle and grinds those 6 blades again. This saves you a huge amount of time and most makers have found their accuracy, results are better because they are grinding at the same angle on each blade in succession.
