Well, I never thought it would happen to my little business, I'm outgrowing my surroundings. My 22 X 22 ft. shop has been filled to the max only to take most of my big tools all the way across town to my buddies shop, and then to be filled again. So I started looking at alternatives, my buddy offered me space at his place, but with other people working there and inadequate electrical service, that got to be frustrating real quick. I started looking at renting or maybe even buying a spot in town, but that was even more frustrating and expensive. The bank was so kind enough to hold me off for three months only to not give me a loan and laugh me out of the front doors so I thought "Screw it" I havnt needed a bank yet so im not gonna kiss there butt now. What I do need, and fortunately have a abundance of, is good old down to earth buddies and family thats gots my back. So, im adding on a grinding room to back of my shop and without really asking anyone, help and support is crawling out of the wood work.

With material money flowing out of this shop like water, my folks where gracious enough to float me some coin so I wouldn't have to draw this process out over the coarse of the whole summer. So, with the funds in place, it was time for me to recruit some strong backs with weak minds. We all know Murph fits that bill, so he was cool enough to take off a couple of days. I was floored when Erik (1066Vik) volunteered to drive 10 hours just to be abused like a borrowed mule, he arrived Wednesday evening. Jerry D here on the forums I believe is coming down tomorrow to swing a hammer and probably try to run me out of beer. A couple more buddies here and there and I'm hoping to knock the biggest portion of this project out this weekend. Already got some supplies yesterday, stripped the back wall and installed a door where there was a window. Gonna be a long day tomorrow will try to get some in process pics.

Erik arrive Wednesday evening wearing a t-shirt supporting another knife company.

Took him to one of our local watering holes where I shoved a 24oz. steak and a few beers down his throat. Trying to butter him up a little.

The back of my shop before we started.

All looks quiet and peaceful in the neighborhood. Might as well fire up the tools and disturb the peace.

Old rock shoveled out, siding stripped and door to whats gonna be the new grinding room hung.

Stay tuned!

You guys are awesome and just more so.

One important lesson I learned today that I will most certainly apply in future construction adventures. Before working in backyard. Pick up dogshit.

So, Murph comes around the corner of the shop with a big pile of shit in hands and says, "Hey guys, look what I almost stepped in!" :D

Thanks for the belly laugh!

So far, so good. Looking forward to the rest of it. Nothing like the dirt drill to make a man excited. Shitload better'n wielding a post hole digger.

So, got a text at 5:30 A.M. from my buddy Johnny this morning wondering if I was ready to get started today. Who the hell starts framing a 5:30 in the morning. So I get up, open the door for him. First thing he does is goes the the bathroom and stinks up the whole south end of the house. Well played man. Well played.

LoL, what are friends for?

Awesome thread, This is all the good karma coming back to you Todd. If I lived closer I'd help you. I am not that skilled but I take orders well.

Your a long ways from Maine buddy. Oh, tell Murph to wash his damn hands...

Hey Todd,

You wouldn't meet more space if you just turned around orders a little faster. Just kidding man! ;)

In all seriousness, I am glad that you have good friends willing to step up when you need them. You have to be a good man before you attract good friends like that. You obviously qualify in that regard. I am looking forward to seeing the finished expansion. Good stuff and good people involved. Congratulations on the growth.

Phil

Work on the shop has halted for the evening. Vik is now hammering hot steel into submission with Todd's anvil and his homemade gas forge.

O.k. midnight, everyone has left, we kicked ass today, Eric and I watched the burn fire wear down then came in and finished some left overs. A lot of work done today, Murph and Jerry took a lot of pics, sure they will post them soon. Gonna be a long time before I can repay all these favors. Beside myself with all the generosity and help that I've received this weekend. Seriously, first time in my life where I want something done and it just seems to happen. Im not worthy of these people that have my back......... more to come tomorrow, I'm hittin the sack.
