Having some pre-shave issues - UPDATE 7/15

Thanx Joe. I do remember the feathers working well in that razor. I'm still working on the pre shave lather soak step for a couple more weeks to check my progress. I have been keeping an eye out for shave secret during my wanderings to Target and such, but haven't seen it anywhere yet. I don't ever go to walmart, but if all my other options fail, I guess I will have to. Bravo on the wet shave success so quick!

Does anyone know what's in Shave Secret? I may be able to source it via a chemical supply on my next order.

Have you tried other shave creams other than CO Bigelow and RazoRock Classic? I have sensitive skin and found both Bigelow and RazoRock part of my problem.

Here are several creams I've found to work well. . . .Truefitt & Hill Ultimate Comfort, Nancy Boy Replenishing Cream, TOBS Avocado & Rose, Kiss My Face, La Toja Sensitive, Erasmic Supreme Sensitive, GFT Coconut, Castle Forbes Lavender, and Castle Forbes Sandlewood.

I also dumped the post-shave Alum block thing. My face thanks me. :p

Yeah, those are what seem to work best, yet. I initially had success with Jack black (sorry don't remember which one) but after about 40 shaves it really did some funky things to my skin. Real Shave co. Sensitive is an OK one for me, too. I have heard good things about Nancy Boy, but have yet to try that one. Same goes for Tobbs.

I don't have much income to just buy, try and give away what I don't like, so I have stuck with what works thus far. I am considering going back to revisit soaps if I can find one that works well with my hard water.

Thanx for the recommendations!

I started to lather up and soak my face with a wet hot towel with the lather on for a minute or two. Then used a hot towel to wipe off the lather and wet my face. Then, I lather up again and shave with three passes. Very similar to the suggestions here. It has worked wonderfully.

Well here are the pics of my lather like I said I would put up. This is with RazoRock Classic Shave cream soap.

There are some bubbles around the edge of the bowl from the beginning of the lather building, but they are not throughout the bowl.

This is the approximate angle I hold my razor (without tilting my head, my son is a bit leary of it, no blade installed)
