Here's a pair almost completed, I still have to make a sheath for the Bowie.
Bowie - OAL 17 1/4" with a 12 1/8" blade, sharpened top clip, flame pattern damascus blade with w pattern damascus hardware, titanium spacers, file worked and heat colored golden/bronze, maple handle.
Hawk- 9 3/4" spiked headed with a 3 1/8" cutting edge flame damascus, 18 3/4" maple handle with w pattern damascus caps and ti spacers, file worked and heat colored golden/bronze.
Let me know what you think.

One of my fave kind of matchet sets. "Hawk" doesn't quite cover it for that beast - more like a battle axe. Good stuff.

What a great set. I really love the profile of the hawk. The spike looks like you left enough meat in it to balance the bit.

Omg. Want. This must be what it felt like to be a teenage girl in the front row of an Elvis concert.

y'oughta post this in the zombie apocalypse thread too. That's some serious hardware.
Turns me on a little.

Damn, that set is my idea of perfection.

The lines of that bowie are absolutely perfect...

That hawk is mind blowing...

Such beautiful damascus and spectacular maple...

In my opinion, this set is functional art at its finest.

Bill.. this is amazing stuff. This is one of my favorite patterns in damascus now... It really lends itself well to the Early American styling. It was a pleasure seeing your last set in Arkansas.

THAT'S WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT!

Very, very nice Bill.

Kind regards,

Jos

Thank you everyone for the kind words, they are really appreciated.

Roger, its pretty hefty alright, several yrs. ago I had a gator hunter contact me about making him a hawk with a heavy spike, after several conversations about what he wanted this is what we decided on. I told him he was crazy but he just laughed and said he was really looking forward to using it on hogs too. Its been a favorite spike hawk for several customers.

Dave- its going to a really good client in SC, I don't have any shows until the ARK. show so I doubt it will be displayed anywhere other then here, by me anyway.
