Hawk and Panchenko Orbit mid-tech

Any word on other blade profiles? I recall somewhere seeing that they would eventually have different shaped blades for the Orbit.

Just put down the $50.00 deposit for part of the next run anodized titanium with tumbled or polished blade 3 to 6 month wait.

I had originally selected the polished blade option, but they ran into some issues in manufacturing so they took that option off the table. It was really hard trying to decide between carbon fiber and titanium, and once I had chosen titanium, if I wanted it anodized, and if I wanted fully anodized or just accents! The choices are awesome but I had a hard time choosing without seeing what they all looked like. I really love how the bronze accents turned out on mine, would love to see some of the other ones out in the wild!

Wow that looks great! I bet that extra weight really gives it a nice feel. I used to restore vintage stereo equipment where heavy meant quality, so appreciate when something small has a nice weight to it.

I'm hoping they come out with a larger version with different blade profile. Absolutely love the combination of the hawk lock and flipper.

Now that I have flipped and used it for a few days, I can report on its action. The design on this one is a home run even though it is unusual. It is a very unique flipper that is a combo front flipper and standard flipper. I can lightswitch it or use my thumb to flip it open for example. Something I have never been able to do before with the same knife.
The cam system works really well and I have grown to love it. It breaks open like a snappy detent would and because of the flipper, flys open. On the close, it drops shut but you have to push it closed to lock it back into the cam but with the slightest bit of wrist action it will close shut completely. Similar to an axis lock on a benchmade but a lot less wrist action, very little.

Very addictive due to the ease of use!

Eager to hear about its performance, and the utility of the cleaver blade. This one is a grail I might actually be able to own soon :D

I am biased towards the cleaver/ sheepsfoot/ wharncliffe styles. I find them to be made for utility and highly useful for my tasks. While the tip can be used for piercing, it is better at precision cuts (think like an exacto knife) or slicing. The blade of the Orbit is thin and lower than the handle making it a great slicer. Mine showed up razor sharp. This one looks like a permanent keeper and user for me. Time will tell if the cam system can withstand the test of time. Size comparisons to follow.

Are your experiences with the Hawk TAS Dauntless similar with the action I described? How long have you been using it?
It just arrived Thursday. My guess is that it is probably harder to flip than the orbit due to the more standard location of the flipper tab. I would also guess that the dauntless closes smoother. It pretty much falls shut and is unlike any other action I've experienced. I think I will probably have to pickup an orbit to confirm my thoughts. God, I love the Hawks.
